I'm not too crazy about the bloom. I know it's for realism, but I think an 8' supersoldier with metal bones can conquer recoil pretty well like in Halo 3. I guess since we'll be Marines in Reach, they aren't as strong, but still. Eh, whatever.

The fact that trueskill isn't retarded like Arena.

I really cannot think of a single thing. I think Reach has pretty much covered everything in terms of improvement.

Arena is closer to the base trueskill system than Halo 3 is.

All it does is promote lonewolfing and rushing like a retard. No teamwork involved, it's letting people that sucked ass in h3 get Onyx no problem from the sole fact they play like an idiot.

No, trueskill in Halo 3 was bad, I was terrible for about a year, and now that I'm good, I play alot of weaker players.

No, it lets people who don't have a To4 to play with get to the skill they deserve to be at instead of getting rank locked because they get tons of losses due to retards.

Assists are regarded as being equal to kills.

It also effectively eliminates de-ranking/boosting, which is a good thing.

It'll also be beneficial to people who create second accounts because they're "rank locked", as the seasons reset.

The only arguably bad thing about it is that it doesn't punish deaths severly enough(you lose 1/3 the amount as you gain from a kill/assist), so essentially if you have a .33 K/D ratio you'll still rank up.

You're not guaranteed to be Onyx though, as your rank will be determined by the rating of everyone else who is also doing arena.

The top players will still be the top, the bottom players will still be the bottom.

If you maintain a High k/d ratio, with a ton of assists you'll be in a higher bracket than a guy who runs around meleeing everything.

Halo Reach - Make a prequel to the fight.
Halo CE - Begin the fight.
Halo 2 - Continue the fight.
Halo 3 - Finish the fight.
Halo 4 - Start a new fight.

The BR. other nthan that, not much.

No such thing as rank lock, nice way to talk about something you don't even understand.

Apparently you're the one who doesn't understand.
If Rank lock didn't exist, people couldn't go on massive winning streaks without ranking up.

Edit:
I know all about that sigma/mu crap as well.
Halo 3's ranking system is faulty because it rewards abuse

ie: Playing in a party with your friend's second/third/whatever account, with a crappy record, when they have a 50 on their main account in that playlist. aka boosting

When they beat other people, those people were expected to beat them which adversely affects their rank, and makes you look like you carried your friend(even if you did the same, or worse than they did).

People will always eventually rank up. I had to go like 15 wins in a row for my 47. I have seen much worse than that. Rank lock doesn't exist, at some point if the person wins enough consistently with few losses they will rank up. Just stop trying to prove your false statement.

Edit the second:
If rank lock didn't exist, why do people rank up faster, and get to a higher rank on a second, or third account?

None of that helped prove your statement that rank lock exists. Just go away now.

Prove to me it doesn't exist beyond saying "it doesn't exist".
There's actual proof it exists, given the fact that people DO rank up to higher ranks on fresh accounts than their original ones.

If you have too many losses due to being an idiot when you first started playing, you have a much harder time ranking up than you should once you actually learn how to play.

ie: Anyone who plays LWs exclusively until they hit 40, then goes into Team Slayer(or any other Team based playlist). They have no idea what proper teamwork is, nor do they have knowledge of callouts unless they go out on their own to learn them.

Edit:
Not that rank is an entirely accurate measure of skill as it is, when you factor in internet latency(aka lag), which can cause dropped packets(bullets).

The only true measure of someones skill versus someone elses is in a LAN setting where lag is a non-issue.

Harder, not impossible. You pretty much proved my statement right there. Win consistently and at some point you will rank up, it's a given fact.

Only people who deny this are the ones not good enough for the next rank so they blame it on something that doesn't exist.

Define "not good enough".

Do you mean "still goes positive, gets tons of assists, but their team goes negative, so they lose"?

Or is it "They can't carry their team every game".

Not everyone can play with a To3/To4 to guarantee they don't get random retards on their team.

edit:
This is precisely the reason that the Reach Ranking system is going to be better.

Even if you queue for games by yourself, if you still go positive every game, and get a ton of assists: You'll rank up.

If you go negative every game, but get a ton of assists(assuming your assists outweigh your negative 3:1) you'll rank up, but not as fast as the person in the previous statement.

Everyone will be in the bracket that they're supposed to be in.
Nobody who goes hardcore negative will be able to get Onyx, considering it's based off of the performance of everybody else.

"You have enemies? Good, that means you stood up for something."- Eminem

I liked how the Spartans were super macho in Halo 3 but in Reach they feel pathetic.

Try getting one good teammate to run 2s with. 2s is really easy if you have a good teammate and you can most of the time carry idiots on your team.

That's harder said than done.
Most people you run into at the 35-45 range in TS are stupid as hell, or they're second accounters who -blam!- your whole team by themselves.

I'm not saying that everyone deserves to be a 50, but there are some people out there that do.
Edit: I know I'm not good enough to be a 50, but I regularly beat 45s in the MLG playlist at 30 high, and in TS at 39 high.

I should be clearer:
I don't use the term rank lock to mean "You're forever stuck at 30/35/40/whatever, I use it to mean "You're stuck there for longer than you should, once you actually get better, because of all the stupid losses you've accrued during the learning process."
