On a related note, ******'s mom has really nice boobs, and it doesn't take much booze or encouragement to get her to let the puppies out of the pen...if you know what I mean...

Please keep it clean and productive in here. Don't post your cd key (duh), and don't debate our criteria for granting nameplates.

Please do help steer people with questions to the answers we've provided.

Thanks!

FAQ part 1:

Q: What's the format for entering keys?
A: Caps doesn't matter. Dashes do. Follow the example on the page.

Q: What if I change my gamertag?
A: If you simply *rename* your gamertag on your existing XBL account, that's fine. Bungie.net might not link to your game history until you play online again, (because Xbox doesn't proactively notify us about the name change) but once you play again, it'll correct itself. (It might take until overnight for your Halo 2 record to catch up with the change when we automatically sort out problems like that)

Q: What if I relink my account to a different gamertag?
A: See FAQ 2 below

Q: How long do I have to do this?
A: We haven't set a cutoff date. We might eventually set one, well past Reach launch, but that's undecided. When you consider that this "Bungie Legacy Games" data can potentially be used to similar purpose for all Bungie games into the far future (but no promises!) giving even a few month window for registering the 7-year-old Halo 1 PC game seems awfully short. There will be PC fans who might not catch the news for a long time.

Q: How do I choose a nameplate?
A: The same page where you register them will let you choose from all the options you've earned like Halo 3, once you've played Reach.

Q: I just played Marathon XBLA and it hasn't shown up on my gamercard yet
A: The gamercard comes directly from MS's servers, and they cache that data for a while. Come back in half an hour or so and try again. Also, the demo version doesn't show up on the gamercard, you need to play the full version. Some people have luck paying another game afterwards to force it to change.

Q: Will I get the Halo 2 flair?
A: Do we have Halo 2 data for you? (If I did that link right, then if you're signed in, it should try and bring you to your Halo 2 stats page. The link is gone from the top of the website, but the page is still there via a tab on your Halo 3 service record. If you see data for yourself, then you'll get the emblem. There was no date window for eligibility. Any games there count.

Q: What about Halo 1 Xbox via Games on Demand?
A: Bungie is no longer part of Microsoft and we simply do not have access to the purchase data for this game, nor does it register online. It shows up in the console's recent games list, but not your gamercard for us to see. It's out of our hands.

FAQ 2:

Q: What if I link my gamertag to a different Live ID?
A: The unlocks will stick to your gamertag/Live account, not your Passport/LiveID account. (This is good - it means it won't break the "supercombine" you might have earned.

**********************
Q: Help! It says my key has already been redeemed!
**********************
A: I asked a bunch of people to PM me their keys when this happened, and guess what? Almost everyone sent me the same few keys! It looks like either people forgot they got their key on a warez site, or else accidentally bought a counterfeit copy of the game via a distributor who printed the same key with every CD they clone. If you're getting this error and wonder if it's the cause, try this experiment: paste the first two blocks of letters (XXXXX-XXXXX) into Google - does your full key come up on a Halo warez/torrent page? Bad news, it's not a legit copy. That's been the case for all the PM'ed keys I've tried. Overall, from the thousands of valid keys entered in the 16 hours the page has been up, it looks like things are running smoothly for the vast majority of users.

FAQ 3:

Q: I can't choose any unlocks, even though I should have some.
A: There's a browser compat problem which will be fixed soon, that prevents you from seeing the buttons to unlock your nameplates. If you're in IE8, turn of compat mode (the torn-page icon by the address bar) or use another browser.

I played halo 2 live but it doesn't show up

Well you have to have to Unlock four of the five nameplates Halo PC, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, or the Halo: Reach Beta to earn the Master Chief's MJOLNIR Mk VI helmet nameplate. To get the Halo CE Nameplate, you have to download the game to your hard rive on your PC/MAC and then enter your Activation Key that you got with Halo CE on your Bungie.net profile.

no answer to my problem? =(

Did you actually play Halo 2 or did you just get the email?

And nope, you can't. They are off of Bungie's servers.

Of course I played Halo 2 with my account. I got an email for the halo 2 loyalty code, as well as an xbox live message giving me the 3 months, and 400 MS, and yet I dont get the halo 2 nameplate. My friends have it, and I dont. I may not have played halo 2 all the time online, but I sure as hell played halo 2 every weekend LAN party we had. And I spent forever at a friends house, we stayed up all night waiting for all the halo 2 maps to download, just so we could play, I played splitscreen on the same tv as him as his guest, then later or another day I played with my own xbox live account with him.

The guy I played with that day is this guy.

So my Bungie Pro has expired but before it did I switched to the DMR nameplate and it hasn't gone anywhere. Should I tell you guys that I am rockin' the plate without paying my dues, or should I just continue with my piece of flair without remorse?

Well, it took a while, but I finally have my Halo: PC nameplate! My situation was that the site said my key was in use, even though I still had my game and everything that came with it. If you are having the same issue, here's how I got it solved:

What you'll need first:
-Your original Halo: PC CD
-Your original CD key
-The manual that came with your CD
-The box your CD came in. The box has the Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity for your game on it, so this is very important.

You will need the box, the key and the original CD for sure. I was told to get my manual, but personally wasn't asked for any info from it.

What you should do:
Don't bother Bungie too much with emails or PMs. Customer support got back to me and told me "Microsoft is where the codes come from so Bungie doesn't have much control over them" and linked me to here.

Call Microsoft Support. I suggest just Googling the phone number, since Microsoft's support site is almost impossible to navigate. Say "technical support" when prompted by the automated voice. It should then ask you what you need help with. When it does, just say "I don't know", since it doesn't understand what you are trying to say if you say "Halo PC".

Past that, just calmly explain what your issue is in detail. Be patient, you will probably be redirected once or twice. I got directed to the Piracy Hotline and was then redirected back to regular Customer Support before I got somebody who could help me. They asked for info from my CD and box, and asked for my old key. After 2 minutes on hold the guy came back and gave me a brand new Halo PC key!

I hope this helps some people who are having trouble registering their key, I pretty much gave up until Bungie Customer Support pointed me to Microsoft.

  • gamertag: [none]
  • user homepage:

I bought Halo: CE at Wal-Mart today. But when I was trying to get my nameplate it says the code is not valid. Witch it is. Can anyone please tell me how to do this?

So, I finally got the guts to post a message about the Assault Rifle nameplate.

I did participate in the Halo: Reach Beta. I am still using the same gamertag and windows live ID. However, I bought a new xbox.

I insert Halo: Reach and I play and play and play. Eventually, I look towards the Halo: Waypoint awards and I notice that I have all awards unlocked except the Halo: Reach Beta tester award.

One way or another, I use my old hard drive from my old xbox and insert it into my new xbox and BAM, the Halo: Reach Beta tester award was unlocked. I now have the brown avatar t-shirt.

I'm happy because I think i'll have the Assault Rifle nameplate as well and I log unto bungie.net to 'put it on'. However, it's not there! Bungie, what can you do, or what can I do, to correct this massive injustice?

Thanks!

Well you can keep using the Nameplate, but do the right thing and resubscribe your Bungie Pro.

I played plenty of halo 2 online matches, but on bungie.net it says i never did...
was there a window that i missed or does halo 2 just not like me.

I think I played the beta during the middle of that time frame. I only played for about 30 minutes. And that's the thing though, I got the new xbox, but I'm using the same hard drive that I used on my old xbox on my new one. So, the data is there. It's how I unlocked the halo waypoint award for playing the beta. I'm just hoping for an official bungie statement regarding the assault rifle...

I am still very interested in the star (VIP looking) Nameplate that know one has other than one Bungie employee. I asked him how he got it and he replied with something I did not fully understand, but is this Nameplate open to the public and are we able to earn it through matchmaking?
