But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

Me and my friend are both finding that the Halo PC multiplayer isn't currently working. It comes up with "An error occured trying to contact the GameSpy master server" or something similar. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm hoping Bungie didn't take it down.. >:(

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Yeah, it's not working. I eventually click cancel and then when I click internet again, I get the main screen showing no servers, but then it freezes on me and I have to alt out and manually close halo.exe.

GameSpy Technology, the company that manages the online portion of the game, moved to a new data center. This brought all of their services down for the better part of the night. The move went fairly well and people have been playing Halo for a few hours now.

so i must ask, what other games fall under the gamespy category?(because google is overrated)

Battlefield 2 and 2142, Midnight Club Los Angeles, GTA 4, Read Dead Redemption, Mario Kart Wii, Unreal Tournament 3. Just to name a few of the known ones. There's hundreds, maybe thousands, of games that currently use GameSpy.

GameSpy offers a variety of services so only certain aspects of these games may have gone down (e.g. online stats and leaderboards for Read Dead, server listings for Halo)

Something smells fishy...

I'm seeing some servers on the Gamespy server list but not all of them. But when I use the Xfire server browser all of the servers appear.

It's weird.

Xfire appears to be storing the old server listing. The data center move causes the IP address of the GameSpy services to change which have to be forwarded around the world via DNS changes which can take a little bit to propagate. If a Halo server shuts down and restarts it should get the new IP address and show up in the in game browser.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Interesting timing... anyway, if you have any favorite clan servers, you could always jot down their IP's if they're listed on those clans' sites and use direct IP connect to get in. That's what I'm doing to get to BFM.
