I was messing around with myn the other day, and it has picture in picture. And here's the cool thing. If i wanted to, i could put 8 people on 1 tv, using picture in picture.There are a bunch of different combinations, and one is where it is like there are two 27" tvs right next to each other. And because it is HD i can do it without any loss of quality. It's neat.

I absolutely DESPISE widescreen TV's that aren't used solely for movies, because the image is distorted too much.
I'm on a 36" WEGA, so I hope they do give HD support, like, more than just 480...

it's only 480p : - (

My tv has options for 4:3 or 16:9, and my cable switches it automaticaly, but i too despise image distortion.

How come they don't put it in 720p, or even 1080i? Does it take up processing power?

Sorry about the dbl post.

P is 2x better. With i, interlaced, the Half the image is changed every 60th of a second and the other half the next 60th of the second. So it kinda of like the whole image is changed every 30th of a second. P, progressive scan, changes the whole image every 60th of a second the result is a cleaner, better picture. It also gets ride of those thin black lines that you see on tube tvs. Look closely and you'll know what I'm talking about.

480p (for progressive scan) is better than 480i which is what basically all non HDTV's are. 480p is the lowest true HD level. It will look good at 480p (although i'm suprised that it won't be more) and if its 480p i'm sure it will be widescreen as most of the new games are. Haven't most of the webcam shots of people playing been on widescreen plasma's?

But does higher resolution really tax the xbox? Why can't halo 2 have it? Xbox can support up to 1080i.

on my HDTV, when i play a hi-def game it automatically puts the bars at the top and bottom of the screen so i think if you want hi-def, you have to have widescreen too.

dont know why they cant to 1080i or 1080p (that would be awesome). I've got a 48" HDTV widescreen with dolby 5.1, Halo 2 will rock.

57" with Dolby Digital EX. (6.1)(up to 7.2) (thats crazy)(so am I). 1080p is kinda of unecesary, unless you got a giant Projector.

Yea, thats right ::smacks forehead::...

I would love it if they could have 1080p, and I would love it if those worked on full screen with my TV, I remember one time I think it was soul calibur 2 I had it on 720 something and the image was smaller, like around 5 inches off every side of the screen, it looked a lot better but I was like F THAT!

I wish they would make TV sized computer monitors, like 36, 40, 42, 50" CRT monitors that work as pc monitors and TVs, where you could manually set the resolution on the monitor, and have it specifically compatible with video games and stuff, sortof like how in PC games you tell the game 1600x1200 and it automatically changes the monitor.

Imagine playing Halo 2 in like a 2000 something res on a 50" HDTV............
