I played Unreal a while ago.
I was not impressed. The graphics? Choppy as heck. I could be walking, but it looked like I was sliding around.
The multiplayer? Completely devoid of skill. All you do is control two bases. All the weapons are the same; the one weapon that is good (TOO good), is the tag rifle. You charge it up, and it nukes a full room. In halo, you could dodge stuff. In Halo 2, you could dodge stuff. In Unreal, you just shoot.
They tried to make Unreal "cool" by making it violent; like, people's organs spray, they curse AAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the time, and the really big guns appeal to many gamers. Many launchers, guns that fire bright shiny explosions that decapitate a few people, etc.
I cannot have 1 good battle without the graphics collapsing. The music is the equivalent of a child's jack in the box. Except with bloody heads soaring through the air.
In Halo 1, Bungie focuses less on bloody content and more on gameplay, story, balance, etc. Unreal is all about how red you can make the map.
There are around 5 unreal games...but the graphics are left unchanged, they made bloodier weapons, etc. Some people need to realize that gory games aren't always the better games.
