I was playing AotCR about 1 hour ago and I discovered something that made me ask many questions.
I was going underground to the large room in a Scorpion and decided to kill all the Covenant, ditch the tanks and make a run for the next load zone. For those who don't know, this effectively freezes the Marines (now following on foot) behind you. I killed the Covenant on the approach to the surface (2 elites and a handful of Grunts) and got any Needler ammo I could.
I WAS intending to do the 'fireworks' trick where you pack a Marine full of Needler clips and Plasma Grenades, then load the checkpoint; he flies for ages (my record is 25 Needler explosions). Anyway, I got bored and went in search of things to do.
I got a Ghost and started pushing a Shade turret (manned by a Grunt) off the edge. I got to the point where he was hanging over the edge, so much that he was almost vertical. I started moving around a little and although the Grunt had no idea where I was, his Shade gun still followed my movement. I think its just a slip up with the AI and physics of Halo.
I eventually jumped on top of the Shade (using a Ghost) and the Grunt opened fire on me. The recoil of the Shade dislodged us from the wall and we plummited to our death.
I loaded the zone up again (quite a recent checkpoint thankfully) and again, each time getting on top of the Shade and sending me and the Grunt to our deaths. I began to notice a pattern in the falls. The pattern was that I (Master Chief) fell much faster than the Grunt.
Anyway, it was fun. Try it if you have the time.
