This was the very demo shown at E3 2003 using a beautiful new graphics engine. Unfortunately by that time this was all they essentially had, they spent 7+ months on said demo. Microsoft put their foot down and so they were given essentially a year and a bit to finish development or should I say start development for the game? Given the time they couldn't optimise the graphics engine that was shown at E3, so they threw it out pretty much including all the features planned... even the story they had planned originally, to meet the deadline and ship it out for retail. Halo 2 could have been so much more, only if they had the time. Unfortunately the game was over-hyped and when it really came to it the campaign was below par in my opinion. Microsoft I guess are really to blame for making them push the game out before it was finished, but hey the multiplayer was still great :D

Exactly. It's pretty unfortunate it had to turn out that way. I'm never going to forgive Microsoft for that, even if it is just a video game.

I wholeheartedly agree, still bitter about it after all these years. The story for me has been ruined, especially with the inclusion of the Arbitur. That story arc was a purely "WTF?" moment, and was clearly just designed as a filler for a shallow campaign. You spend the entirety of Halo CE and the starting missions of Halo 2 fighting the Elites/Covenant only for them to join you in battle in an instant, rendering what had been previously accomplished utterly meaningless. "Earth will never be the same", yeah right! Just two measly missions spent clearing out essentially a small strike force.

Each to their own opinion. This forum is still going because H2 is a great game. I enjoyed Arbiter and most everything about the Campaign and so do a lot of folks. My only wish is that we could have ended with MC fighting an epic battle. That's just my opinion and is not meant as an argument.

Arbiter (Sans the "u") was one of the greatest Halo moments ever. The bravery to turn the campaign on its head...show us what was behind the Covenant mask...It was genius, and I wish 3 had more of that genius behind it.
