If you could choose between the following versions of Halo CE, which one would you choose?

Halo CE HD: 1080p, glitches fixed, achievements added, skulls added.

Full Halo CE: Halo CE with all the extras that didn't make it in time for release. Maybe a few extra levels.

Original Halo CE: The Halo Bungie planned before Microsoft wanted in.

Original, out of interest and because I can't imagine modifications to CE improving it much.

Although, I wouldn't mind the HD one, apart from the "glitches fixed" part. Higher native resolutions are never bad, and Halo 1 on xbox has serious combing issues on screens without good deinterlacing.
It's arguably not that much of an issue though since the PC version already DOES allow rendering in HD resolutions, so Halo 1 HD already basically exists.

"Full Halo CE" though I can't imagine improving on anything. A few extra levels? What? Halo CE starts its story and wraps it up perfectly with perfect pacing. Tossing extra levels in would fail in pretty much the same way that Apocalypse Now Redux fails.

I'm pretty sure the original wasn't going to be a FPS, by the way.

And from what I've heard there were apparently going to be a lot more levels in Halo CE (I've heard 25 even) but they didn't have nearly enough time for that.

My choice would be the Full version though, Halo CE wouldn't be the same without the glitches, and the original version would be a completely different game.

Err...yeah. I guess my statements had a little equivocation problem; I used "original" to refer to two different things in the same sentence.

I changed my original post to fix that bit.

"Originally" they were going to have huge portions of the ring explorable. If they had planned 25 levels, that was LONG before the story began taking its final form.

By Full form, I sort of meant including all of their ambitions. Though I don't think they'd of ever finished it if they wanted to complete all their original plans. Anyway, a few extra missions could include encounters at wherever it was the Humans made as their base, or maybe a few levels between Two Betrayals and Keyes instead of just teleporting.

I still fell that that wouldn't make much sense from a storytelling perspective. Those events aren't part of Master Chief's story, and to jam them in between MC's levels would throw the very careful pacing in Halo 1, not to mention the storytelling style as a whole.

Now, building those levels in the Halo 1 engine and packaging them on the same disk as a separate campaign, where you perhaps play as another UNSC individual? That could potentially be pretty awesome.

Yeah, I guess they wouldn't fit in too well...

I'd give a lot though to be able to play the game they originally planned.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

I would choose the original. It looked really cool.
