I also game on the PC and Wii. Message me if you want to play sometimes!
I LOVED Halo 2 and I was one of the original hardcore gamers that started playing Xbox Live 5 years ago when the game was hugely popular on the web.
I think alot of the new teen audience doesn't understand how epic Halo 2 was. EVERYONE played it. On a full friends list, I would mostly have only two people max playing a different game. Everyone I knew in school played it and it was the best game ever.
Halo 3 did not live up to that potential. It was a good game, but it just wasn't the same. Still, whomever posted this topic, I think you went a little overboard. You cancelled Xbox Live over one game?
No offense, I loved Halo 2 as well but when are you going to move on? Halo 2 is ancient now, there are tons of other great games out there to enjoy. Call of Duty, Halo Wars, Mass Effect 2, the Rock Band games online, Splinter Cell, Red Dead Redemption, there are plenty of other great games to enjoy these days. Yes, Halo 2 was good for it's time, but I actually went back and played it a few weeks before it was dropped from Xbox Live.
I was shocked at how sucky it felt now. The guns felt like plastic toys, the maps are very boring and simplistic, and the matchmaking, what once was the best matchmaking system now sucked. For one, the interface was ugly and crummy compared to super slick game interfaces today. Also, it took extremely long to find a match, especially later in the night and mornings. I can see their reasons for pulling the old games from Xbox Live... mainly no one plays them anymore.
Seriously, just move on, Halo 2 is part of gaming history now. If you don't have a 360 yet, get with the program! Wait a week and there's a brand new 360/Halo Reach bundle pack that's gonna be out in stores. If I was an original Xbox gamer that haven't upgraded yet, I would crap myself over that combo package. Halo reach console and controller, massive hard drive, headset, built in wifi, man, I would kill to have all that now, my 360 came with **** compared to that.
