I was playing Team Slayer the other day and I lost a game because my whole team quit, leaving me to try and win against 4 people of a higher skill than me. Then it happened again and again. In the end I lost about 5 games because of quitters.

Does it really matter at such low levels?

I feel like there are times where somebody quits but it's not intentional. For me, I always started a game but then plans surfaced with friends, family and other things that i just had to leave.

When it comes to that, I always choose that over the game for simple reasons. From that, should I be punished for having a life outside my Xbox?

Granted there are players who just quit because they may not like the map they're playing on, but not all people who quit are like that.

The idea is very simple: if you think you're going to be busy very soon, don't go into matchmaking just to leave in mid-game and ruin the experience of others.

Unless something comes up, out of nowhere, there are very few valid reasons for quitting from a game.

Reach has a big punishment and its too late to do this to halo 3.

Those last minute plans are the ones I'm talking about. I probably should have been more clearer about that.

Anyways, I've only quit like 7 games in the almost three years I've been playing Halo 3, so if 7 games out of all that time isn't acceptable then i don't really know what to say.

No. If I leave a game because I have to go, then it would be rediculous if I lose anything besides that one exp point. But if it's constently, then sure, why not a worse punishment?

I do not think people should be punished for having a life outside of the game like someone said earlier, but I do think that these people should only start searching if they know that they will have enough time to finish it. What I really hate is when I'm close to a rank up and some annoying person comes along and says, "I'll just stuff up this game so that my team will lose, just because I don't like this map."
And I can't just search with a full team of friends because my friends are often not on at the same time as me.

It's even worse when someone quits and the rest of the team says "Oh we're one man down we're sure to lose now, what's the point in playing?"

I just think people should keep in mind that if they quit then that may cause someone else to quit starting a chain reaction of quits.

youtube search me.

they can make any punishment they want, il still quit.

  • 08.27.2010 9:01 PM PDT

You can't get what you want...

...until you know what that is.

They should be banned if they do it over and over but not once or twice, sometimes you just can't finnish the match, you just have to go somewhere.

I think they should be banned for a day if they do it about 3-4 times in a row. Especially if they quit right at the start.

~I have to be honest, there's nothing I love more than spawn killing people after I'm in the lead and their entire team quits. If I had my way I'd have a game mode of nothing but people who cannot defend themselfs and me and my team spawn with power weapons and guass hogs. Just the way they don't even have a chance to defend themselves before I merilessly slaughter them reassures me that I am in fact an awesome gamer and overall a superior human being. Its what they deserve for not quitting and getting the hint that my team and I are uber pro.

I could show some comradery and let them ride in my warthog or on a mongoose, but I'm far too awesome for that. Halo should not be fun if you are a losing team and I have to drive home that fact at every given oppertunity. ~

The one thing about Halo match making that I've not liked is how one sided different events can become. I usually do just social gaming, and when it becomes a 6 on 2 type match in big team battle or a 4 on 1, I just quit and deal with the lost XP. if you can't rebalance the match (moving people to the other team or letting new people join), the game ought to handicap the superior team; give me double or higher shields, more lenient on the aim, etc. to compensate for the fact that it's 4+ on 1.

I agree, I think that they should have some sort of handicap system for teams of fewer players, but perhaps something like: One kill gets counted as two. Or Weapons have double power.

It's people like this who I think should have their own playlist called "Quitters Slayer".
I think quitters should be separated from those who actually want to play fair. I'd prefer to get owned by people who are better than me than to get owned because it's 4 on 1.

It's annoying though, but you just have to keep searching and hope you get a good team that won't abandon you.
