Subject: Truth and his "Great Journey" Plan.

Through Halo 2 and 3, we learn of the Prophet of Truth's plan to activate the Rings and begin something he called the Great Journey.

Towards the end of Halo 2, Truth leaves High Charity in the Keyship towards Earth, to dig up the Artifact and make his way to the Ark.

Truth knowingly gave Tartarus the index to activate Delta Halo, thus annihilating every sentient being in the Galaxy.

Do you think Truth's original plan was to head to the Ark and take up shelter there until the Rings had fired and then return to a completely empty galaxy, free of anything that can even produce a thought, to build his empire?

I know that this was most likely not the original plot, but I thought it would make a much more interesting one.

If your never sure if a post has sarcasm or not, my posts are cooked in pot of sarcasm, has sarcastic filling added to it, and then has lots of little sarcastic sprinkles put on top.

Wouldnt be much of an empire if there was nothing in to rule though...

It was simply religously misguided fools trying to kill everyone in the name of their religion believing that they would ascend to be some greater power once their goal was complete!!

Sound Familiar?

From Cyro to Meta

Good thread, but you would get better responses if you were to post it in The Bungie Universe Forum.

Yeah, just sharing thoughts. Empire wasn't exactly the right word, but you catch my drift.

Think about it, really.

Truth left for Earth almost immediately after he gave Tartarus the Index.

It's not like he knew that the Ark was the place you must go to activate the rest of the Rings when they were put on standby by Miranda.

it is mentioned in "Contact Harvest" that Truth, and Regret, both knew that the Humans were Forerunner.

Mendicant Bias tells them the truth in one of the chapters, and because of this, they start a war with humanity, in attempt to preserve the covenant.

Halo Reach - Make a prequel to the fight.
Halo CE - Begin the fight.
Halo 2 - Continue the fight.
Halo 3 - Finish the fight.
Halo 4 - Start a new fight.

No.

Originally, it was to collect forerunner artifacts. Then, when the Covenant came into contact with Humanity, they learned that the humans were, in fact, Forerunner aritfacts (though the Humans didn't know this).

Truth( not the prophet at the time) wanted the Humans killed off (for lack of better words right now), becausthe humans had a clear and present connection with the forerunners. This knowledge would have ripped the Covenant apart, and the Prophets would have lost all the power that they had.

So, Truth had the Covenant start exterminating the Humans anywhere they could find them, and this was mostly in the Outer Colonies.

Skip to 2552, when Earth was discovered by the Covenant...

The Prophet of Regret jumped to Delta Halo, also known as Installation 05. There the Master Chief followed him, and before he killed The High Prophet, High Charity and the entire Covenant Armada arrived from Slipspace. After the Master Chief killed Regret, the Covenant fleet fired at the Temple they at. Master Chief jumped into the surrounding lake, where he was found by the Gravemind, a Flood parasite, that can think and command other flood creatures.

Then the Arbiter, was sent to obtain the "Sacred Icon" that would start "The Great Journey". There he was betrayed by Tartarus, a Brute Chieftain (the Prophets elevated the Brutes ranks over the Elites, and allowed the Brutes to start killing off the Elite Councelors. Most Elites hated this, so they started killing Brutes, who did the same in return. This was the beginning of the Covenant Civil War). The Arbiter fell down a hole, where he was found by the Gravemind.

The Gravemind formed an alliance with the Master Chief and the Arbiter, to stop Halo from activating (because the Gravemind would have been destroyed also). It teleported the Master Chief to High Charity, and the Arbiter near the Control Room of the Halo.

The Arbiter killed Tartarus (the brute who was trying to activate Halo because of what was happening in High Charity) with the help of a few Humans, including Sgt. Johnson and Commander Keyes.

The Gravemind took over the Human Frigate, and flew it into High Charity and took over. Truth left there to go activate the portal, go to the Ark, and activate all the Halos, thus killing all of the Flood. He (of course) was stopped.

This might as well be a history lesson for those of you who didn't know this. You can say what you want about me, but this is the Tru7h, the Whole Tru7h, and nothing but the Tru7h.
