In Halo's final level, the Maw, 343 Guilty Spark says something strange. He says: "You can't imagine how exciting this is! To have a record of all of our lost time! Human history, is it? Fascinating." What does he mean by our lost time? I think the lost time might be since he was left in charge of the installation but "our" implies, to me anyway, that someone or something else is on the ring with Guilty Spark. He also says: "Why do you continue to fight us Reclaimer?" The word "us" also implies that he isn't working alone. Could he possibly be referring to his sentinels? Any thoughts?

Certainly interesting, but a little too...vague, for DEEP DEEP consideration.

I know he is insane and it is vague but I think it may be a bit of foreshadowing. If there is someone or something else with him on Halo, it might help him find the Master Chief in Halo 2. Guess we'll just have to wait untill the fall to find out.

guilty spark called MC 'reclaimer'
the definition of reclaim is
re·claim vt
1. to claim back something that has been taken away or temporarily given to another
2. to convert unusable land, for example, desert or marsh, into land suitable for farming or other use
3. to extract useful substances from waste or refuse
4. to make somebody stop doing things regarded as immoral and return to virtue

hope that hepls a little.

What if 343 Guilty Spark's insanity or "rampancy" has somehow caused his programming to splinter into two distinct "personalities"? That may explain some of these remarks. I wonder if Cortana would be susceptible to something like this? If this is in fact what happened to Guilty Spark.

A human ancestor were Forerunner, he finally has the history of the in-between stage, he calls chief reclaimer because he is A. Human, B. Has the Armor most likley to be used to combat the flood.

Being human and combatting the Flood having nothing to do with the reclamation process 343 was talking about. He was referring to the Master Chief assisting him in gaining control back over Halo's operational systems against the Covenant, a mutual enemy. He reclaimed The Index which is a key that activates Halo's defense systems, and destroys the Flood, as well as everything else alive in the galaxy.

As to the message that 343 gave Master Chief and to who he was referring to could be left up to conjecture and discussion. It could be that he had a record of humanity before he was inserted into the installation and retrieved the rest from Master Chief's mind or armor. It could be that the human's relationship to Halo is much more powerful then previously assumed, as in the Forerunners have a hand in humanity's history or that the Forerunners are humans from another dimension or time.

When he refers to "us" he is more than likely referring to him and Halo's entire defense system (the Sentinels, the self-destruct mechanism). He was apparently engineered to activate this when the Flood was released, if ever. The Covenant and the Marines participated in this and 343 assumes that the Master Chief is someone fit of reclaiming the index, and having him activate Halo's defense systems. Lucky Cortana's smarter than John, or they would have been all dead two levels before the end of the game.

No, not really. As for defining reclaimer, good for you! But it does seem logically Forerunner have been in direct contact with humans before.

"No, not really" to what?

I didn't define "reclaimer," it has been in our language since its origin. I did however use it correctly, so yes, I guess, good for me.
