the reason i say that because it was ACTUALLY a challenge to get a 40! and near impossible to get a 50! its weird when u when alot of games on your rank then loose one and u go down a level! thats not right! waht u guys think?

I do agree that Halo 2's ranking system seemed a whole lot more balanced. "Seemed" being the key word. I was surprised when I got to a 40 within the first month, but then I decided social was more fun.

I'm kind of glad the ranking for Reach is totally revamped to be honest. The 1-50 thing quickly turned into a race, which it's not supposed to be, and really brought out the dark side in the community.

Love my girl, 4/11/11.

Micro$oft's truskill system is incredibly broken. If you went down 2 levels it's probably you were fighting against boosters. Their accounts make the system think, "Oh, the other team has a horrible W/L record, they'll surely win." So when you lose, the system feels you're not ready for that kind of competetion. It really is a bad system, it's way too easy to manipulate it.

Removal of the 1-50 ranking system altogether was definitely the way to go. Caused soooo many problems (boosting, selling/trading accounts, and my personal favorite: "BAD 50z" file share pictures). I'm interested to see how the Arena ranking will work out. Sounds like they've got it down pretty good, though. Time will tell.

True, but it's only broken because the community broke it by cheating. With the way Reach's rank is set up through Arena seasons, boosting and second account issues will be greatly reduced. Also, the lack of being able to see your actual skill level within Social (It's there, just not visibly) will reduce the ability to buy or boost to the highest level and give people crap about how bad they are. Basically, you'll just be matched with the people you should be matched against, without having a number to fall back on.

The TrueSkill system is amazing at finding competitive games. That is its intended use. It is not amazing at providing player investment dividends, which is what players want it to be. There is a disconnect between what people want and what the developer provided.

TrueSkill will still be used to find balanced games, but it will be in the background. You won't even notice what a good job it is doing. The player investment stuff that you see will at last be what people have always actually wanted.

i dislike the skill level system in halo 3 as it is hard to find players at your skill level in a ranked playlist so ur stuck in social games. The reach system for ranking is way better.

Go Reach.

I wish people would stop complaining about Halo 3, if you think you can do better, DO IT. Rank is just a stinking number and doesn't mean ANYTHING at ALL.

And while we're wishing I'd like a pony.

the new system in reach for arena just lookes at you so ur rating cant be hurt by boosters. in fact, the new system makes ut compleatly pointless for boosters and/or team killers

LONG LIVEZ TEH REACH!!!
