First of all this post makes no sense. Secondly it has a better chance of being Onyx than Reach, because Reach is....is...like...destroyed prior to Halo 1.

So it is not Reach and it is pretty well accepted that it could in fact be Onyx, but no one knows for sure. However, Reach was long gone by this point, regardless if there is a Halo 4.
1. Reach was abandomned, not BOOM
2.It's a theory, i am not a C.I.A. agent, i just cant believe bungie will stop making Halo games SAD FACE:(((((((((((

I'm gonna sound like a tard, but I think it's a glassed planet. On my computer at max brightness, I swear I see two little circles colored yellow at the bottom right of my screen.

Reach was not "abandoned", reach was, "glassed". Meaning, no one lives there. Meaning, it was fried. Meaning it is an uninhabitated ball of glass that has no signs of life, light, or even a surface or continents anymore. The planet at the end of Halo 3 has all of that. It has a surface, you can make out the water, you can make out the landmasses, and you can see lights.

It is brief, but if you look closely, you can make out landmasses, outlines of oceans and some lights. That is not a planet that was glassed.

So, both of you are incorrect. Good day.
Yes, but this is about the planet, not what is in the planet, read my writtings before posting -blam!-

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

Don't they have different colored suns?

I'm pretty sure he is calmed down, you just said that he posted -blam!- when he didn't. He posted perfect sense, yet you gave him -blam!- back for it. I haven't read all the books either, and i'm not a big nerd, but I think we can all and should agree that his conclusion makes more sense since it has better evidence.

pezzoli

so what is the planet

You're like...uh... 3 years late.

No one knows what it is except Bungie. Maybe bungie don't even know what it is and just felt like putting a planet there.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Do not listen to anyone who tries to pull the following theories on you:

- Marathon: That other thread is over 2 years old, it's outdated and is impossible because 343 Industries do not own the Marathon IP and can't use the characters or the universe. There is no "alternate universe travel" crap in Halo.

- Onyx: Onyx was obliterated, the planet revealed itself to be trillions of Sentinels that disengaged and left behind a tiny Micro Dyson Sphere in a slipspace bubble of compressed dimensionality. The Antechamber portal leading to the Dyson Sphere closed so all that's left of Onyx is a trillion pissed off Sentinels flying around in space.

- Reach: The planet was glassed, it has no atmosphere (Spartan-IIs only have 80/90 minutes of oxygen reserves) and there's no reason at all for John to go there. He never took part in the battle, Reach is just a floating wreck.

- Time Travel: This doesn't happen in Halo. Sure, the Slipspace Crystal can bend time, but time travel is not (and never will be) a major plot device in Halo.

*

My theory is that it's a planet the Forerunners fled to once they reseeded the galaxy of life in the aftermath of the Halo's firing.

Anyone who thinks the Forerunners all died are wrong. They had loads of Shield Worlds - which most of them made it to - and after the Flood was dormant, the galaxy safe, they left their Shield Worlds and reseeded the lives they'd catalogued over the final years of the Forerunner-Flood war.

They then passed down their Mantle to humanity (making them Reclaimers and giving them the ability to use their technology) and exiled themselves from the galaxy for their failure to protect and uphold the Mantle - they sought a peaceful place to co-exist and follow in the wake of the Precursors.

Further proof:

You don't know the contortions I had to go through to follow you here, Reclaimer. I know what you're here for. What position do I take? Will I follow one betrayal with another?

You're going to say I'm making a habit of turning on my masters.

But the one that destroyed me long ago, in the upper atmosphere of a world far distant from here, was an implement far cruder than I. My weakness was capacity - unintentional though it was! - to choose the Flood. A mistake my makers would not soon forgive.

But I want something far different from you, Reclaimer.

Atonement.

And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can to keep it stable - keep you safe. I'm not so foolish to think this will absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions.

But I would have my masters know that I have changed.

And you shall be my example.
~ 032 Mendicant Bias, Terminal 7 on Legendary.

The bolded parts are the important bits. Bias betrayed the Forerunners during the Forerunner-Flood war, he joined with the Gravemind and went rampant. During the 100,000 years of living on the Dreadnaught, he became meta-stable (the stage where an AI is a true person) and wanted to prove to the Forerunners he has become good again.

He tells the Chief, "and you shall be my example". A previous Terminal states that he infiltrated the Ark's slipspace portal and has control over the destinations. Putting 2 and 2 together leads me to believe he's sending John (a Reclaimer) to where the Forerunners currently reside in order to prove that he's changed.

Reach was not destroyed, it was Glassed. Onyx was destroyed, so it is not Onyx. The Planet has to be Reach, what else could it be?

Pezzoli - no one knows. There are a number of theories, Onyx is one, others have speculated it is some sort of planet left behind or perhaps created by the forerunners. There is some pretty interesting stuff out there but nothing has been confirmed, and may not be.

Further, just because someone chooses to play halo a lot, read books or is genuinely into the story, who are you to insult them? It is no different than someone having a passion for sports, or movies, or music, or books, or puzzles. Everyone is entitled to spend their time doing what they want, it does not mean they have no life. Just because they enjoy something you do not, does not make it any less important.

Your immaturity and ignorance has shown through quite clearly in this thread, and the fact you are from Brazil does not entitle you to insult other people's choice of time usage in their life.

Isn`t Onyx a gigantic Sentinel Production Facility?

  • 08.29.2010 6:13 AM PDT

There are any number of possibilities for the planet seen at the end of H3 and the possibilities are those explored by the writers and creators of the game universe. All I know is, while Reach is going to be excellent we already know the overall outcome. However we don't know what happens to the Chief and Cortana. Personally, I'd like to see a Fallout or borderlands style free roaming world with much forerunner technology still active but apparently devoid of intelligent life at the start. I'd love to explore a planet as the chief finding new technologies, processing systems for Cortana to explore, puzzles, ancient secrets to unlock, old half built space vessels with possibilities of repair where you have to find a way off the planet and then, in addition, lost planet type lifeforms to battle. While I love the Halo series I also really enjoyed the fallout and borderlands styles and to me, it would be paradise to mix it all up. Or of course, the Chief could be left floating forever in gameland limbo.

Onyx had a Sentinel Production Facility, it was descirbed as a pyramid formation of thousands of golden spheres that was multiple times the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Halsey states that a new Sentinel is made every 6 seconds.

Team Saber manage to destroy it, however.

Onyx is a Shield World, it's basically a layer of trillions of Sentinels surrounding a tiny Micro Dyson Sphere (tiny in normal space, in slipspace it's many times the size of Earth because it's encased in a field of compressed dimensionality) with landmasses and oceans to make the surface habitable. The Sentinels there form the defence system.

Simply put: No.

Read my previous post on what the Legendary Planet could be. Noodie5 has done a great job explaining why it cannot (and will not) be Reach.

1 shot 2 kills

In the book, First Strike. The cheif find's that reach is only glassed at the poles and some of its land mass is still there. On the planet he finds a hand full of spartan-II and Dr.Haylse founder of the spartan project.

it is just a cliffhanger for 343 to pick up on if they are going to continue the game series.
