These posts are all over the place, and the people that have posted them get, generaly, the same response.
Just because Reach is near it's release date doesn't mean that Halo 3 is left to die. as Surgical Aphid said,
halo 2. It only died when microsoft pulled Xbox LIVE support from all the original games.
So it goes the same for halo 3 in my oppinion, it will only truly die when Bungie wants it to. Other than that, Halo 3 will be quite alive.
As for a side note, I noticed that when ODST came out Halo 3 had a raise in players and games per day. Not tremendous, but noticeably more were playing, partly by the maps ODST gave to the community.
