A friend who has thier account on my console (permanatly) thought that it would be a good idea to boost for some achievements on Halo 3(because according to various posts around the web and on Halopedia, it states that Achievement boosting is not a formal offence)so we put in a few guests so we had a 4 players on 1 box to make it as easy as possible and we got some other friends over LIVE who also used guests on different controllers. After they played a few games we got what we wanted and went to play normally but I booted up my console next day and it said that the account and console were banned from earning XP for 2 weeks which is fine and I have no problem with them issuing bans (Good on them) but my question is that if I signed in a non banned LIVE account on my console through Halo 3 would that account also get a ban and would the xbox get a perma ban from xbox LIVE because the banhammer detects it as someone trying to bypass a ban? Also if I had both accounts signed in from another game or from the dashboard would the non banned account get banned and the xbox get perma banned from LIVE? Thanks for any replies that you guys send :)

I am fairly sure that the entire console is banned to prevent you from doing just that.

Group is Soldiers of War, ask for invite if you're interested

I would have to say, that situation is pretty delicate.

Is it just a ban from matchmaking or fileshare, or is the whole Halo 3 experiance for you banned?

If so, I wouldn't go against Bungie for right now. When reach comes out maybe ask about it to a Bungie employee.

It wa only a XP matchmaking ban. So I could still play on matchmaking on the banned account but I haven't gone on the non banned account just in case

Yeah. Your best bet is to wait out the two weeks and not try putting anyone on Halo 3 through the console during that time, even a non-banned account.

FYI- Achievement boosting is NOT something you get banned for. However, most people, when they're achievement boosting inadvertently also satisfy the requirements of EXP boosting (which it sounds like you did) and THAT is what results in a ban.

If it's experiance ban, I'd still wait a bit. I'm not entirely sure if switching to the non-banned acount will end well, just wait and ask a Bungie employee about it that you've been playing normaly since the ban.

I would reccomend you not let someone use your console that might do any type of boosting.

Yeah, see, the problem with boosting "Save This Film" is that to get a perfection, you have to WIN. When you win, you get EXP. Therefore, when you boosted that achievement, you also boosted EXP. That's the cause of the ban (most likely.)
