Subject: Odd Marines...

so upon playing through the campign mission: The Covenant i happened to stumble upon quite the odd couple of marines. When returning to the beach to see the 2 hornets landing, two tripped out airforce marines pop out. Now maybe its just me but i never payed much attention to these guys before so instinctively when i saw their armor i started asking questions...after realising u cant kill them by simply shooting them in the head (aside from in the visor/face) i started wondering if maybe i stumbled onto some sort of Easter Egg.
Its probably just the hype of REACH getting to me but at first these marines talk in their same old whiney Aussie esque accents...upon further abuse via melee attack or killing one and listening to the other they change their voices completely into what seems to be either Buck from ODST or Carter from Reach saying "He's one of ours sir" or a Jorge esque voice saying "What are you? A horse's hoof?" and "I'm suppose to be here with you".
Now normally i would pay absolutely no attention to this but when Aussie mairnes randomly change their voices and say one liners ive never heard...im gona start asking questions...

So i leave now in hopes that someone can talk me out of my Reach anxiety or to actually look at my file share at slot 21 titled Voice changer and listen carefully for the Dutch esque voice once i kill the first marine at about 14sec and the Jorge esque voice at about 02:34min.

Thanks for input,

I've been hearing Buck and Dutch for the last few days of Campaigning now... Like you i do't know if i just never noticed before or if they just were put in. I've seen you're Reach Marines in your file share, they look like the type of Marines that would be pilots or something. i can't remember seeing them. Play through to the mission with the two scarabs, look at the marines that drop off the hornets for you. that's all i can think of. i'll have to check myself.

Side note, i recently read through Halo Evolutions. There was a character that promised her team icecream after a successful op. This story took place just after Halo Combat Evolved. In Halo 3 i had a female marine with me that would always say "who wants icecream" after a successful kill (we were in a Prowler) I enjoyed it and it once again made me wonder if she always said that or they put it in after the book came out.

Yeah these Marines were flying both hornets on the covenant aswell as in a couple of cut scenes (one with keys and the other with Johnson). It was mostly the blue visor that caught my eye seeing as he wsnt an ODST and wouldnt freaken die with a couple of beam rifle shots to the face >.>
And ive played the campaign soooo many times in effort to aide my online buddies in completing all achivements and not once have i heard Dutch nor that Jorge esque voice till now.

Ive actually heard that female marine say that before but did not know where it came from...although the "horse's hoof" comment is quite strange, i wouldnt put it past Bungie to sneak in some Reach voices or mini easter eggs so close to release day

Im definitely gonna do some research on this and find out, if anything, what Bungie is up to lol

Let Slip The Dogs Of War.

A lot of the voices and characters you hear in Halo 3 also stared in ODST, maybe the voice change was a game bug of some sort. It happens quite a bit in video games not just Halo 3.

That may be but voices and dialogue dont just radomly appear within a game unless its suppose to. If these are voices of such characters as in ODST then when did Bungie throw them in and why is it only NOW Im hearing of people cuing in on them...
