I'm not sure how many of you have taken a look at the Bungie webcams, but I was particularly interested in the types of monitors they are using to test Halo 2.

Go here to see what I'm talking about.

Can anybody tell me what kind of monitors these are? I'm thinking of investing in one so I can enjoy Halo 2 on my own monitor. If nobody knows, I'm also curious about other flatscreen LCD's that are between 13 to 17 inches and would be the best bang for my buck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, one reason I want a smaller LCD is so I can take it with me whenever I want. I'm sure it's a lot easier to carry around than a huge Samsung, if you know what I mean!

If you want portable and big, go the way I did ... front projection. I have a 96" screen in my living room, with my computer, DVD player or Xbox (HD output), and anything else I want hooked up to my projector. XGA resolution, 2000:1 contrast, 2200 lumens. You can get a slightly simpler model for less, but mine cost me US$2,200 new (MSRP US$3,700). I've also got 600W of 5.1 surround sound.

When my friends go home and play on their little "big screen" televisions, they feel disgruntled at spending just as much for much smaller, much bulkier, traditional televisions, and can't wait to come back to my place to play again.

Again, my suggestion is to go front projection, with a digital projector. For them, DLP technology has proven superior to LCD for video.

For the question about audio, something much better than stereo would only cost ~US$100 ... so that's what, CN$150? I would personally recommend going to Crutchfield.com and reading as much of the info they give about home theater systems as you can find. I've purchased ~US$1,700 worth of Infinity speakers from them and been extremely satisfied with service and support.

There is a screen that you can buy that connects to your xbox, i dont know the resolutione on it but it costs around $150. if you go to www.xbox.com and find the Hardware part of the site it can tell you more. From what it looks like, its an LCD screen the same size of the xbox. Hope this helps.

here is a Lazy Link to those LCD screens, now i am sure that they are indeed LCD screens. These are priced at $120, but you can probably surf around for a better price.

Uhh, well put. The DLP (Digital Lazer Projection) has an excellent dark picture, which is perfect for gameing! The price is up there with LCD's and Plasma, but if you give it a year or so, the price is going to drop dramatically! Plus, the DLP will not burn in your picture, so you can leave your xbox on all day and no picture will burn into your TV. (although, not recommended to leave the xbox on all day...)

id stick with DLP. they have 61" DLPs at best buy for about $1600. i know its not cheap, but compared to plasma, 1600 looks like a naked lady holding a hamburger for you. you dont need high end anything to enjoy halo 2. my tube suits me just fine.

DLP = digital light processing. ^^^^^^^^^^

It all depends my friend. You can spend 5-10 grand on surround sound. A couple thous can get quite a spiffy sound system that would rock your halo world. You could also get surround for a few hundred and be totally satisfied. No matter what you go with, it will be much MUCH better than any sound your getting from your TV speakers. Keep in mind, that with any surround sound system, it much be set up properly! It makes all the difference in the WORLD. Dont just buy some sound system, set it up according to your curtins and carpet and turn it on. Get someone to do it for your.

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions. Has anybody figured out what type of screens that Bungie is using on the webcams yet?

Well, now I feel stupid! I was looking at the webcam pics to try and figure out what kind of monitors they were using. I finally noticed a box in the lower right corner of the screen that said "BENQ", so I typed in http://www.benq.com and found it! So here it is... just to let you know, they are way more expensive then I thought they would be! Thanks again everyone for your suggestions.

From my VERY little experience with LCDs, NEC/Mitsubishi LCDs are probably the best bet. That's the brand my friend recommended and it works and looks great.
