I read in the FAQ that Halo 2 will not support HD resolutions, but has anyone heard if there will be widescreen support for 16x9 TVs? Halo looks great at 480p but it would be even better if I didn't have to stretch it or have pillars on the sides...

This forum is active! This post went to page 5 in no time. Anyone have any firm info on widescreen options?

It won't. Supporting wide would require a special writeup of how all graphics and sound are processes for the new screen- not happening.

Now if there was an option to force your display into proper proportions and not make it get all stretchy...

That logic is not necessarily correct - there are quite a few games that support widescreen and manage it without too much trouble. Has anyone heard any official word? Gamespot shows the game supporting widescreen on their info page, but they also show it 720p which the FAQ on this site denies...

I am hoping it's widescreen because bungie made an issue about telling us about SAMSUNGS DLP HDTV, Im sure it's 16:9 widescreen.

If it's not, I think you can ge the pro image cable that has 6 channels instead of the usual 3 (yellow, red and white) and allows for wide screen.

Although I could be totally wrong on this, I remember hearing something along those lines...

I play HALO on widescreen, on my HDTV. It looks awesome. I also use component video and the HDTV adapter.

This was on FAQ on this site:

Q

Will Halo 2 support HDTV resolutions like 720p or 1080i?

A

In addition to supporting normal television resolutions, Halo 2 will run in 480p resolution when connected to an HDTV.

Good enough for me

Halo 2's bound to support widescreen - Halo does. Have you got your Xbox set-up correctly?

I do not believe Halo supports widescreen. Just take a look at the reticule when you are in widescreen mode and then switch over to a non-stretch mode. The reticle in widescreen is oval.

And yes, I do have my XBOX set up correctly. Games that support widescreen look fine on it (Sega GT, MX unleased, Crash Nitro Cart, Amped 2, Project Gotahm 2...).

I hope it supports wide screen too, it'd look so beautiful on my HDTV. And Halo doesn't support widescreen, it just stretches out when played on a 16:9 size screen. It still looks great, but the elites look fat, lol.
