<====== Has played on LAN maybe 10 times ever. That was at college when the game first came out in my dorm. I've never really gotten the chance to play this game on LAN against people who are decent at it, so I never really got the full effect of it. Watching people play on LAN makes it seem like a totally different game sometimes, at least to me. To anyone whos played a good amount of LAN is it really that different from live?

I played at a LAN party once. Things seem a lot cleaner during those. Less being shot through walls, less being hit from bullets which were fired at you prior to your making it around a corner.

Things of that nature. It's better, but the things which are improved are not really things you can prevent from happening over Live.

True, I played a game on LAN once a while back, and the gameplay is so much more smooth flowing than it is on Live.

I play games for gameplay, not silly gimmicks

H3 MM warrior

Reach S7, 8 and 9 arena warrior.

H4 MM legend

it is defentitly different, when i played i was at a big disadvantage because i had to share a very small t.v against my friends who placed top 20 at an event so i got a lil wrecked but my shots actually connected and my snipes felt great. When i play on live you wouldnt believe the blood shots i get on people, but on lan they all count and it makes a big difference

I feel like I would have to play it a good amount to fully understand what you guys are saying. I'm following the examples but really i dont have a huge issue with the way XBL works the majority of the time and thats probably because I dont LAN

I play LAN most days now, seeming I don't have Net anymore.

The local Gaming Store near my house has a set up of 6 Xboxes with Mythic in them, and heaps of people come to compete for hours.

Basic rules with it, last Two with lowest scores step out, or the losing team hands it over to the next team.

LAN helps. You probably get right behind cover sometimes and then just drop dead when you are playing on Live. You probably think they got you with their last bullet right before you reached safety, but, in reality, they hit you before you got their and your death was just delayed enough to make it look like you died as you made it into safety.

I have had this happen to me a lot. I'll see myself being shot from across the map, so I'll duck out of sight from that person only to have myself get shot once or twice more as I am in complete cover. Lag FTW

When abe goes to a parties, all the chicks grind with him, easy.

I wouldn't call it lan, in was more of a 2v2 with 2 xbox's, but yeah it was way better. My connection is average, however i live pretty far away from most hosts, so i would probably notice more of a difference than someone who lives in the US. (Not sure where the best connection is on average in the US.)

I went to a LAN party last week and I loved it. My Internet connection is barely one mb so when I play live my headshots never count. In the LAN party is was getting headshots left and right.

eastern U.S. (because most halo players live in Eastern U.S.)

Trying to competitively play over Xbox Live is like trying to shave with your fingernails.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

I have never played Halo 3 on LAN. But from what I've heard, it's close to the same as on xbox live.

I went to MLG Raleigh this past weekend.

I played a ton of Halo CE LAN as well.

========================================

Its kind of like playing on host, except better. Its a different game. Shots count, and the game plays as intended. You don't have to deal with packet loss, dissapearing rockets, god-like lunges, bloodshots, lag strafes, black screen, etc.

When I go from playing on a 46" TV with a 10+ ms response time, and a .2 upload on XBL, to playing on LAN on a TV with no response time, its literally like a completely different game.
