One cool thing I would like to see in the new seventh column is the ability to change the layout or template of your chapter. Not just the theme, but it's layout. Such as the location of side bar and menu items. This would be super useful because not all chapters are alike. Some focus on gathering events, while others tend to be online communities fueled by daily news and forum posts.

For example a news layout would look rather straight-forward and simple -- much like a blog -- where as an event chapter would use it's layout to focus on what's important. Event info and member sign-up sheets.

It would sweet if users could create their own templates as well.

That would be pretty awesome.
The only thing I can think of is that it might be tough to create a new theme builder with this feature. Changing the layout of a chapter would also require different types of themes for each layout, unless things were simply slid around, such as sidebar on right as opposed to sidebar on left. However, if size were changed on anything, images would be forced bigger. Quite a job for the guys designing the next theme builder, eh?

I think an easier (well, not really easier, but better) idea is that instead of a theme/layout editor, just have the chapters set up in a modular fashion, allowing the founders (and privilaged staff) limited access to modifying portions of the source code itself.

That way, there would still be basic layout funcionality for those without HTML experience as well as complete customizability to easily create new themes and layouts.

I understand how that would create complications in ensuring that no unacceptable content goes into any chapter themes, but I'm not really sure what Bungie's stance is on what is allowed and whether they really care what kind of content goes into the chapters. Just an idea.

4Base Avalanch MELTDOWN
battle is only a prayer.....
.......Better Start PRAYING!!!!!!!
Chapter Founders Bungie's Group Support
Mob of Angry Peasants

That would also cut down on the repetiveness of the chapters. I say alot of them look the same. I don't know how manny diffrent banners are used but the XBOX and the 130mph Masterchief seemes to be almost every chapter.
