Some Halo 3 achievements are only available to specific Maps and Gametypes like.

[Alas, Poor Torick] On a legendary map, get 3 Oddball kills.

and Map specific achievements like

[Pull] On Citadel, get a Shotgun Spree.

It's all good and well when the maps are realeased, however over time the odds in obtaining these achievements become increasingly infrequent.

I mean, there's no legendary list anymore. What are the odds in getting an oddball match? Even then it's mostly vetoed. When will the Mythic list vanish? On top of this the removal of the Spartan Laser from certain maps if not all maps in FFA, how is anyone suppost to get [Two for one]achievement?

Now to the point of this forum, In my opinion. After the release date of Halo Reach we should be able to obtain any of the Halo 3 achievements on any Gametype and Map

Bungie realized how tough some of the achievements are so in Reach they are not going to be weapon/map specific.

As for changing the current achievements for Halo 3 - not even close to a possibility. Yep there are some tough ones so if/when you get them just feel proud.

Personally I like difficult achievements but I understand the reasoning behind lowering the difficulty.

If it's not possible to mainstream the achievements maybe they can add playlists to allow more frequent oppotunities to get the achievements people are missing. Like bring back the Ledgendary playlist.

I agree with your reasoning, those particular achievements would be far to easy to get. When this thread was may I was thinking more of the more difficult or almost unexsisting achievements they have.

Like 3 oddball kills on legendary map. Hoestly what are the odds of getting that gametype and on a legendary map? 1000 to 1? Once you get it by chance it's mostely vetoed.

And perfection on mythic. Arn't perfections rare enough as it is? [Not including pro players picking on less skilled players or getting 15 others guys to help you out (like that will ever happen)]

It's all good and well when the maps are realeased, however over time the odds in obtaining these achievements become increasingly infrequent.

That's part of the incentive for purchasing the maps immediately when they come out, as you get to play in featured playlists.

-You don't need to find a Legendary map. Mythic maps count as Legendary maps for achievement purposes. For example, if you fulfill the requirements for Alas, Poor Yorick on a Mythic map, you will get the achievement.

-Bungie does provide double EXP weekends such as 3-ball and mythic brawl which are both very favorable to certain achievements.

Also, as has been said, by adding map/gametype requirements it makes the achievement statistically less likely to be available, which will necessarily decrease the number of people unlocking it, which is a way to make the achievement feel more rewarding for the people who do. I don't really agree with that strategy, but it is certainly a valid one.
