I'm starting this thread to let the people of the maw vent there anger or happy-ness toward bungie.

Pearsonly i feel that they havent totaly dumped us because all of the bungie servers are still up and they DID release a patch though some off u did not consider it one. Even though we may feel like bungie left us, we have HOPE that they may come back. Kinda like what Spartan 012 said "dont worry people halo 1 pc may still come" sry if i didnt quote it exact.

I did not post this thread to start a flame war so DO NOT SPAM, DO NOT BE A JERK PLEASE.

Post what u think

Halo PC is dead, it is most likely not coming back, Xbox Live has dominated, and has defeated Halo PC. R.I.P Halo PC, it was a fun game.

Halo pc remains to be my favorite game and no game will ever take that spot. I don't care about super weapons, levels, or graphics. The game jsut "feels" right. I loved bungie ever since they released halo for the xbox. Latley I don't know what to think. They seemed to have cared about their community a lot more. Now they don't seem to care at all. They just care about money not us... the people that gave them our money. I am skeptical now about Bungie. used to be my favoite game company has now dropped to the point where I don't even know if I will buy another game from them considering their lack of support in their game community. I certainly will never pre-order a game again. I learned that mistake when I wasted money on halo 2.

I just want Bungie back the way it used to be. The bungie that cared... hell I even want the old website back. This website design is horrible and I like the simple design better. Just like the way i like the simple halo 1 rather then the flashy halo 2. I want the Bungie that cared back, not the Bungie that is money hungry. If I could talk to a Bungie employee I'd have to say this. Just make the game you want to make... not the game people force you to make. You all are gamers... make a game you would have really fun with and I garentee everyone else will like it to. Focus on the game play rather then anything else.

Halo PC is awesome. The point of this game was for the multiplayer and its replayability. I remembered when I halo'd on xbox about 5 years ago, wanting to play 5v5's competively. I was unaware of lan tournaments and even XBC. But when Halo PC came out. my dreams came true. Bungie, Halo 1 is still a great game, and you guys have the ability to make it more than it should be. I honestly don't know why you guys won't support the game that made xbox so successful.

Right now, people are cheating in public servers, using all sorts of modifications. From wireframes, to even a damn aimbot. "Pubbing" is no fun anymore because we don't get the support we need. Random people are hacking your game, and you guys aren't doing anything about it. It's sad to see Microsoft destroy such a great company as Bungie. Oh well, GG HALO :(

I bet the staff here reads this and says, "hey there are only 2 people complaining, who really gives a damn." There are thousands of halo players that have already given their hopes up with this game. And a few thousand more ready to do the same. Save it before they're all gone. PLEASE!

If they stopped caring about halo pc, they would have shut down all their ctf servers. I know, the servers are attracting more tkers every day like flies and -blam!-, but they still run the servers anyway. I'll know when it's over, and it's not over yet.

This is my story. I use to only play games that came out on consoles. When my Aunt bought Halo on Xbox for my 8 year old cousin, I loved it. I use to comeover whenever I could to his house to play Halo.

So when they released Halo PC with Online capabilties, I went out and bought it the first day it came out. I even bout a new PC to go along with it! ( Yes I loved it that much) So from that day on, I would be playing it untill this very day. I am no longer playing it like I use back in the days, because I think that Bungie has forgotten us Halo PC players.

I would play on Bungies CTF server for hours, Most of you that play on there will recognize my name destroyer. And when I used to be a hardcore Halo fan, whenever I saw a topic like this come up, I wished I could say something but I couldn't because I was not registered.

The only reason I made this name up is because i needed to say something to Bungie about the PC community. All the TKng people like (ME) = King and HowardStern are killing the servers that BUNGIE IS RUNNING! I mean, c'mon the're joining,TKng about 3 people, quiting and coming back, right in your own server.

There must be a moniter that checks on your CTF servers. Also those damn AFKs are there. Once when I went to Bungies CTF server, I saw 4 AFKs. Bungie you should put out a program in Halo, where people could vote out the TKrs and the AFKs.

Those two programs couldn't be much of a fuss. And if you don't do something about this, I will die inside revealing that you guys aren't hardcore gamers, you're just people in the world trying to make quick cash on ideas.

I hope not because if this is true, then you will loss some of your hardcore Halo PC players slowly and in a bout 2 to 3 years, there wont be a PC community left. I just hope that bungie will listen to our cries for help. Untill then we can only hope.

They already have a program that does that for other games. It's called PunkBuster.

Yes there is 5000+ servers and 4000+ players, but Bungie or Gearbox has to give us Halo PC players some light against the Tk'rs and AFK's. We cannot just ignore them anymore. It is getting to the point where ignoring them is just not cutting it.

Long post short; Bungie does not supprot its games anymore. What was a shining example to game company customer service has become something utterly dirty.

500+ servers, yes; sometimes. Bungie run. No. Bungie (or rather $soft, as bungie is now a subsidiary thereof) runs only a small handfull of these servers. They have no control over the other, privately run servers, other than through updates in the game. the few they do have control over; the "BUNGIE" servers...leave much to be desired now. If they wre supporting these servers the way a proper host should (by monitoring players in game to promote fair play, honest gaming, and sportsmanly conduct) then I would applaud them for this and keep servers in the plus column.

But Teamkilling is rampant in the Bungie servers. hackers have infultrated even here, the last refuge Halo PC users. and there has not been a single game within the last month that I have not seen spam texters, racsists, bigots, and any other amount of open chat flamers. If i were to repeat what is openly flaunted on the games servers here, i would be blacklisted without mercy. To allow such people to play this game, with no restrictions, is in direct violation of Bungie's own terms of conduct.

Allowing this behavior to continue is an affront to civic minded gamers. no. It is an insult to anyone with a concience. We should not have to suffer the sexist, rascist, vulgar abuse of this rampant minority in the Bungie servers. nor should we have to suffer their other poor behavior. To play a server that is run by the games creators should set it apart--not as the darkest alley in a city of thieves--as a safe haven where gamers can come to enjoy the program the way it was meant to be played.

Bungie has lost this under Microsoft's watchful eyes. It's like giving children knives and then leaving the room. One is unexcusable; the second borders on criminal. I give them no kudos for keeping the servers up. in fact, I deride them their lack of forethought. If they had any, they would have monitored this situation. now, the only option they will actually take is in finally cutting the servers off.

l will not purchase another Bungie game in the future, and some of my friends have joined this unofficial boycott.

And when EQ2 can be emulated on Linux stably, Microsoft can kiss my -Blam!- as well. After my experiences with them, i can honestly and wholeheartedly say that neither of these companies are family oriented. They exist only for profit, and I will give them no more of my money.

I do not fantasie about Bungie REBUILDING halo (HOPPING FOR H2 and KEEP HOPPING) to 'FIX THE PROBLEMS with Tkers, hackers, raceist or any number of things that i have observed.
1. How about if you RUN a Halo server you just set the friendly fire so that the Tkers can't and thay will either leave or go nuts trying.
2. the other's are something that must be handled when it occurs an Admin. can ban a player with a click and a number.(I DO But if my server is up I'am WATCHING) But most servers are not monitered so the fear of banning is not present.

IF you have any other ideas please post them IT IS UP TO US.

I think Call of Duty`s way of handling friendly fire would be a nightmare for Halo Tkers :) I swear i`d collapse if i`d see this system implemented onto Halo PC (for those who have no clue about what i`m saying here it is: If u shoot your team m8 the bullet comes back to you and you can actualy kill yourself but shooting your team mates :) ).

But like u Mr.B i`m not gona dream about this stuff no more since there realy isn`t any point.
Bungle gave the source code to GearBox,GearBox didn`t take the project seriously enough and probably cut corners to meat the dead-line set by Micro$oft and didn`t add vital stuff like AFK kicks and stuff...so again i`ll blame Micro$oft not GearBox...But i will blame Bungie for the no support,no reading the forums,no actualy playing in Halo PC and lickin Bill`s A@#.

Have a nice day.

Ok, I was just searching around, looking at all things Halo on the web and came across this list of PC game sales for August 2005 (scroll about half way down to get past the console crap):

Gamespot

Now, for a game that is still ranked number 17 in PC game sales (still ahead of Doom3 which is one year younger I believe) how is it possible to not have any sort of support for it? Granted, the average sale price is now only $20, which is peanuts really, however, this means that our money is still rolling into Moneysoft et al., and we get very little in return aside from a couple of poorly run servers.

Sorry if everyone here has already seen this, but I just thought it was very interesting, and relevant to the discussion here.

Cheers.

I can tell you right now from my expirience with other pc games. Any time a company merges with microsoft the pc is going to be abbandond. Thats just the way it is. Mechwarrior one of the best and first 3d games on the pc was the most popular and best online game of its time. Up till Mecwarrior 4:Mercinaries, the xbox came out, they made a game 50 times dummer than pong called mechassult and they quit supporting mechwarrior all togethier so slowly but surly the game mechwarrior is dying because of the lack of support. Microsoft said it themselfs that they are trying to get every home to have an xbox so why would they support pc games if they are trying to promote a console?? Yes its going to happen pc games are going to dye slowly but surly.... All we can do is keep trying to convince people to play more pc games than xbox or any console.

Then $soft can go to he11. If ure serious killerrock. The mech games were my favorite up untill halo 2 years ago, and now BF2 is my favorite. Got every mech game on the market ecept mech comander, mercenaries, and the origional mech games(no mech 2 did not start the mech game era) But till FASA corporation didnt make Mech assault, Day one Studios did.
Oh great perspective Minus sighn.

Many people make valid points about the problems we encounter playing on public servers. The most frequently stated solution is live monitoring. If they are MicroSoft or Bungie servers that would mean paid employees. Who's gonna pay them? Are you going to pony up $ everytime you spawn into a game– enough to cover a living wage and health benefits?

I guess you could get volunteers, but you'd need a few paid employees to monitor the volunteers, or the TKers would just become volunteers and really have fun with us.

I mostly play on servers that have someone monitoring and they'll kick you off for bad behavior.

I guess it's the way I have my filters set, but I rarely see a BUNGIE server in my list. I played on a EU BUNGIE server a few days ago, just to see if they're that bad. It was a bit laggy, (distance?), but not too bad.

The biggest problem I've encountered seems to be the AimBot. Am I correct to assume that it's a separate program that runs while Halo is open? Can't someone make a detector program that can run on servers and block entry to anyone with it running? Or ban anyone who starts it after entering? I'm no programmer, but there seem to be a bunch of tech savy people who come here.

Perhaps the answer lies in private servers and a software fix that does not come from MS, Bungie or Gearbox. If a programmer needs incentive, how about setting up an online collection box to raise $ to pay for the fixes we want?

Not entirely accurate. though private monitoring would be the solution to ALL our problems, the Maw community is verging on concensious that a program like PunkBuster would at least stem the tide. With a 30 minute kick after being voted off, people could play their games in peace...or at least without one long streaming nightmare of insults, TKs and poor conduct.
As for whose going to pay for support: we already are. It has been previously stated in this forum that halo PC is still in the top 20 best selling games. We paid for this game, assuming that it would be merchandise on par or better than most PC games out there today. Issues have been addressed that run right to the programing core, but they have never been taken up by the games creators.
I guess you could get volunteers, but you'd need a few paid employees to monitor the volunteers, or the TKers would just become volunteers and really have fun with us.
Yes; power corrupts, and the absolute power of an admin has the power to give people some really swelled heads. But an in house monitoring program for admiins can be set up--right here in the Maw--to help keep tabs on the wayward admin. there are many respectable players who would gladly voluntieer. Moderator powers could be given to them, active gamers working for free, to monitor the situation in game. And they can be chosen from the group of peers, so we'd have no one left to blame but ourselves if we voted a TeamKilling -Blam-tard into their ranks.
The point is this: none of these issues are being addressed by Bungie, Microsoft, or even Gearbox. Every one of this sadistic trio either blames someone else or sits on their -Blam!- The only people who prove to have any concern for the issue of Halo PC support are Halo PC gamers. So, back to the original topic of this thread, there is no support by the gaming industry for Bungie games.

Here's another story. Back when Halo was released I bought it the first day. I lost it when we moved to my new apartment, So I went to go buy another 50$ game. Then ina a couple of months, my sister moved in for a while and my nephew (she has a kid)had gotten his hands on my Halo PC CD.

When I came home and feeling like its time to play some good 'ol Halo! I went into my room finding that my CD was missing. So I was searching for that thing untill I passed the balcony with my nehpew looking down to something.(We live on the 3rd floor) So I looked down and I saw pieces of CD scattered down there.

I was freaked out! I took the elvator down hoping it wasn't mine, but it was. I had stoped playing but I didn't get far without it. I went to go buy a $20 Halo CD about 2 months later. Point being, this game is that good!

I just played for 4 hours on one of the bungie servers and it was fun and the game types and maps were just right. SO bungie does still think about the pc version at least a little bit. Everyone just has to understand that bungie is a corporation and they HAVE to think about money in order to keep making games and so forth. And not that im saying our patches do ANYTHING it still means they know were here and maybe someday when bungie has nothing else to do theyll sit down and make us a nice little patch.
Furthermore i havnt seen a tker (one who tk's on purpose, not accident) in a good 3 days. So i think those of u complaining about tkers everywhere need to stop being -blam!-. Just find a different server or ignore them.

Bungie, all we ask for is a patch that has the following, which will take less than a month to conjure up.

-Ban/kick system for afk or tking players
-Anti-hack system that prevents any sort of 3rd party program or files such as wireframes, glasswalls, aimbots, speedhacks etc. (this is a huge problem now. Pubbing in servers is no fun anymore when people use these cheats).
-Spectator Mode (this makes the competition so much better and it should have been in the original version but it wasn't).

That's it. Three lousy things. To be honest, the lag and the lead is perfect for the game. I don't mind it at all. Leading makes aiming more skillbased unlike the xbox version where if it's red, you hit. So yea, you guys don't even have to change the netcode at ALL, just fix the following above and more people will buy and come back to the best pc shooter of all time. PLEASE?
