If you can't adapt to playing off-host, you suck at halo.

This.

I can't stand when I'm in a winnable game and instead of settling down and taking control my teammates are like WEOW HOST WEOS SHOTS NOT REGISTERING WEOEW.

Host exists, we get it. It's a disadvantage obviously, but it's not worth complaining about, and people who talk about it are 0 fun to play with.

my connection sucks actually and i almost never get host

This.

I play on medium-speed internet, I know more than most how connection based this game is.

^

I have a strict NAT, and i can still kick some butt in matchmaking. :)

the only thing strict NAT will affect is matchmaking times as it only determines who you can and can't connect with.

i get into games all the time where there is no visible lag but if i turn around at spawn and shoot a mag of BR into a wall i will get 1-3 bullets that i fired returned to my gun, 1-3 bullets that would have failed to register in a gunfight and cost me a kill/death, and thats only dropped bullets. i consistantly see me shoot people with all 4 bursts of BR and them to survive then watching theater and double checking to see that all my bullets hit but 3 of them didnt affect their shields. forcing me to shoot one or 2 more bursts depending on how well those register.

everything is affected by connection to host. sometimes i will splatter someone with a mongoose going at 10mph while when i boost a ghost full speed at someone in another game i will bounce off them like there was a wall in the way. everything survives my scorpian tank shells exploding on them and my sticks go through targets instead of sticking to them (cost me a killimanjaro a couple of years ago)

all this is just problems with the latency that i experience when playing people from all the different countries in the world and nothing to do with people having bad quality connections

Host matters, and plays a significant role in who wins games and who does not. This is a fact, and right before the release of Halo: Reach it's time for everyone to admit it.

Have a nice day!

:)

Not always true it could be your internet connection sometimes too bro.

I'm from Hawaii and it's rare to pull host on halo now :"(

oh, so when a br shot in swat goes straight through the head of a non-moving target that makes me suck?

Strategy > Host > Skill
i agree. If you cant kill, use alternate tactics. You dont have to kill people, you can aid your friends so that they kill.

but very few foreigners are actually good.
>:(
Flase statement is false.
If the ping is under 150 seconds, you have absolutely nothing to complain about.
if your ping is 150 seconds you are living on the moon. Under 150 miliseconds, however is nothing at all.

Judging from the gameplay, you aren't good, seeing as people are needling you, etc., so just get better and you can simply beat foreigners on their PoS host.
no, you should not. Instead you should try to play during different times of the day. Find a time when you generally get good games, i recommend after school untill 1700 local. Thats usually when your own player pool is active. Evening and night sucks, because then the only one online is the other side of the globe, and then you will have crazy pings.

I'm out.

Host only really makes a difference if both teams are from different countries or if host is bad. I play on 5 bar green all day and it usually isn't too bad.

150ms is actually quite noticeable.

Meh, depends. Combined with a narrow bandwidth it is troublesome. Pretty much average ping for me.

I am thinking that maybe 250 miles is the max that it displays because mine says that I am 250 miles away but the town my server is in is 569 miles away.

It is a rough estimate.
I am actually 200 miles from the closest server, even though it only says I'm 50 miles.

I was going to say.

2000 ping is like playing against kids on mars.

Yeh, it was unplayable. Truthfully that was during a lag spike. But those happened every 5 minutes for every 25 seconds... So it was basically a standby.

I myself, and probably many other people have known about host/ internet advantages for a good time now. This is extremely old news.

Wanted to be master of DO NOT WANT, but in latin to show he's clever.

I have certainly noticed throughout the 3 years of playing Halo 3, how large the advantage is when one is a host. Luckily I haven´t experienced many lag throughout my overall Halo 3 experience but I have met my fair share.

Implying your 300 ping lag is worse than my 2000 ping lag...
