How does the Halo 3 booting system work? And, this probably belongs in Halo: Reach forum, but will it be the same in Halo: Reach?

I think it goes by your betrayal history. The more you betray the higher the probability of the system allowing people to boot you. I remember getting 3 betrayals in a game, and when those people ran up to betray me, I booted each and every one of them after the first betrayal. XD

It's broken, plain and simple.

It is supposed to look into how often you betray, but it doesn't seem to work very well. I've had games where I've been betrayed 3 times by the same person and never given the option to boot. On the flip side I've accidentally betrayed people before and been kicked immediately.

I doubt that the guy betraying me 3 times, just suddenly decided to start doing so.

I have less than 1000 betrayals (and 90% of those are from Griffball), in almost 4000 games, so obviously I'm not betraying often yet the game decides to give the option to boot me right away. Go figure.....

When you get booted from a game, go to the dashboard and clear your cache. That is where your "Betrayal History" is stored. When the cache is "Clear" with no history, you will be given 2 betrayals with out being booted.

Each betrayal will increase your chance of being booted.

Example: If you betray one player with a clear history in one game, your next game may only allow you 1 betrayal with out getting booted.

Each game you play with out betraying will "Improve your betrayal status, thus allowing you to work back up to 2 betrayals.

It is even possible to get your status up to 3 free betrayals but you must be a player that Rarely to NEVER betrays.

GRIFBALL is like a Disease to your "Betrayal History" You need to clear your cache after a day in grifball or you will be doom to a life of getting booted after 1 betrayal for days until the system has "Forgiven You"

Believe it or not even betrayals in Custom Games carry over to matchmaking.

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!
+++++++++++++++++++

Clearing your cache will delete all of your "Recent Films" that have not been saved mannually and all of your "Game Updates" that will automatically redownload upon starting.

Nothing else will be deleted.
