Subject: The Elites vs Spartans debate

This issue pops up a lot when talking about hitboxes and unfairness due to elites when playing SWAT. Personally, I don't understand how elites have no advantages. Okay, so elites and spartans have the same hitboxes. We've all heard this.

But that's not the point. Your shots will register in the same place for either player model.

Let's say that the spartan's head is 1 foot above the elites head, and the hitbox is directly on the spartans head. This means that the elite's hitbox is 1 foot ABOVE their head, and it is completely unnatural to aim 1 foot above someone intentionally to try and get the headshot. This is why elites DO have an advantage, because we see the player model, not the hitboxes, and if the player model doesn't match the hitboxes the game is telling us to aim in the wrong place.

Thoughts?

Idk why all these spartans complain about it in SWAT because all they have to do is switch to an elite and they have the "advantage" too.

Eh, I feel that I get killed less than when I'm an Elite in SWAT, but in any other playlist, I get killed more. My theory: Elites can not go for cover in some places that Spartans can.

As far as I'm aware that's not how it works though.

Rather than the example you gave about the Spartan being a foot taller it's actually the elite character model which is the larger. This is why I've always thought they have the pronounced stoop so that they "fit into" the same hitboxes as the Spartan.

Which is also why they can be tricky to headshot from behind.

I shoot them, wait for them to turn around, then shoot them in the head. As for Spartans, I can shoot them from any angle.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I don't have a problem headshotting Elites from behind, just jump and aim for their heads when it comes in sight.

Inside another dead body. It's the last place they'll look
A corpse within a corpse.
CORPSEPTION.
Win.

Why is it that people agree on the topic here, yet when I made a thread about it (and others) everyone told me I didn't play SWAT enough, what I was seeing was not 'true' or 'correct' and that they were "not surprised someone who can barely get a skill 20 in SWAT is making these complaints."

They weren't even complaints, just observations and suggestions for how to fix them.

Swat is a host connection gametype. The shots for the host register better because of the minimal lead he has to do to kill an elite. Off host you have to lead your shots!! Simple

The only advantage Elites have are protection from headshots from the back. Otherwise, their hitboxes = Spartan hitboxes.

And then people ask why Elites are hunched over in Halo 3. Hmm, I wonder.. Maybe to make equal hitboxes..?
