They are gonna keep track of deaths and kills....and probably will do a kill to death ratio....just like in most halo 1 tournaments to determine the best player. I am a awesome halo player....but in tournaments I never have a very good ratio beacuse I play people who are almost as good as me, cause they want to knock me out of the tournament because I am the biggest challenge.. so I will have like a 2.4 kill for every 1 death for example.

Some O.K. player can play a bunch of noobs and have like a 10 to 1 kill ratio. Just like in a halo tournamnet I went to. And this guy was hailed as the best player and even won the best player award, and yet on a game 1 to 1 I beat him 5 to 15. (The tournament I went to was a 2 on 2 tournament by the way, and I was easily the best player there even though my score didnt show it)

You do realize they could make it like quality points similar to Crimson Skies. So if you kill a guy that has a high rating you get more quality points than killing a guy who has a less rating.

Personally I hope a players rank is based off more than that though. There are tons of CTF games where I will purposely not kill somone or even let myself die for a cause. Or if you're a driver most of the time, what about your rating then? Or a flag capper... There are so many aspects that can make a good player. Killing certainly isn't close to the only one.

No it not like they try to take me out a bunch of times in the actual game....they want to be paired up against me in the bracket system early on so they dont have to face me later when I am even more warmed up.

YEH I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN....its not fair to mark down the driver who might only have a few kills in the CTF game...but he was the reason you won....and the guy who kills alot in the CTF games....he shouldn't get marked down for not getting any of the flags...

Kill to death ratio is the best way to keep track of score for fps. I remember when I finnaly got .50 ratio on RS3 (which isnt that good) I had to fight for it. Since I was in a server where everyone was better than me since they all had over 1000 kills. When I only had 300. Yet still I got about 25 kills on that server and maybe 15 deaths. Meaning even ur against newbs or experts u have to fight and beat the challenge ahead of u. So dude if dont like the kill death ratio and it is in halo 2 maybe halo 2 aint the game for u. And u should stick with Crimson skies or Mechassault.

I disagree, not playing a game because of the way it ranks you is complete utter steaming bull-blam!-.
If you don't prefer the way they rank you, then don't play in ranked games or just disregard your stats, playing the game is about having fun and kicking some ass, not having to prove you do by stats alone, if someone doubts your skill, simply challenge them to a game, thats all.

In the tournament I was in, only the person who got 1st in a match moved on. I got 4th overall cause I'm not good at pistol sniping.

Listen everyone, Bungie is not a stupid company, they will not make everything about kills and deaths. There will be a different stat line for each game type I am sure. There will be a stat line for TeamSlayer, Free For All, CTF, KOTH, Oddball, so on. I am sure the games won and loss will be stored, caps will be stored, and kills will be stored. In other words if you are on a CTF team and you win the game even tho all you do is drive around like an idiot, you will move up in ranking because you won. However it will be obvious who is the better killers and flag carriers by their caps and kill counts for each game. I believe the only time they will do a ratio is in slayer games, and maybe just Free For All. This will determine your individual skill ranking, not how good on a team you are. We'll just have to wait and see what Bungie does but I know it won't be all about kills and deaths so stop worrying. If all you know how to do is drive a vehicle from one base to the other then congrats, you suck but you'll move up in rank if your team wins. Also btw flag carriers, you can't drive ghosts, warthogs, ANYTHING! WHOO! You will have to have a teammate pick you up or crawl back to the other base with the flag because you only move half speed. Also you begin with a certain amount of vehicles, if they are destroyed, you're gonna be walking the rest of the time.. no more free vehicles. So for all of you drivers out there I say HAHA... and I love you Bungie.

Also a qoute from StrangePurple: 'In Halo if you wasn't good with the pistol, you will suck with the battle rifle in Halo 2'. He played the game, he was involved in the Zanzibar demo. So for all of you pistol haters.. I'm sorry, you're still gonna have to learn to shoot. :(
