Now that it has been pretty much one year since ODST's release, I look back on it and think, what was the point?
I mean, it offered no multiplayer values, nothing new really besides campaign and firefight, which people did not really care for other than for achievements.
Wrong. I bought it specifically for the new campaign.
And two of the biggest reasons why people bought it, was because you could acquire Recon armor through the game's achievements, and the new Mythic map pack was included as well.
I couldn't care less about recon. I really didn't care that it came with maps for Br 3.
Sure, the storyline was good, and i really loved playing it the first time through, but it really did not offer anything. I thought it was cool that all of that happened after the Covenant Cruiser departed through Slipspace, but in reality, i do not think anyone cared about what happened in the city after[i] the jump.
In reality, you're wrong. I was always bringing it up in conversations with my friends(which they would sigh and say "this again?!")about what happened, but mine was trough the eyes of a Marine. You could only imagine how exited I was for ODST.
It was cool to witness what battling like an ODST feels like, but other than that, nothing new really came into play, besides the new-at-the-time firefight game mode.
If there was a multiplayer format where everyone battled on new maps with ODSTs, that would have been alot better. But i mean, the new guns they created for the game didnt even reach multiplayer either, so really, what [i]was[i] the point?
Too add a new experience and to feel vulnerable, instead of being a super soldier spartan.
In my opinion, i think it was just pretty much "throwing a bone" so to speak, to Halo players out there, and to give them something new. And also, to open their cases, and see the Halo: Reach multiplayer invitation inside as well.
I loved ODST and honestly wish there was more. I got tired of being the awesome invincible spartan for three games. It brought a new experience to the Halo series.
You shouldn't speak for everyone.
I agree with Silver Snail, you wrote this as if speaking for everyone. I certainly do not feel this way. I believe that Bungie did an awesome job on ODST. You got to feel like you were not invincible, and could see how strong the covenant alliance really is. I also love the new firefight! A horde system that allowed the Halo fans to kick some covenant butt... away from the campaign.
I wish Bungie would continue making Halo games, they do a great job! Since they did ODST, it shows that they are willing to stray from the Chief but stay on track with the Halo storyline. In my opinion, they should make a game from the covenants perspective. AMAZING!
Anyway, sorry for going off track there for a second. I dont appreciate you putting down Bungie because you think a game is pointless, [i] and expect everyone to believe the same as you.
LONG LIVE BUNGIE!!!
Also, how can you say that Mombasa Streets wasn't bringing something new to Halo. It's freakin' free-roam in Halo. That's awesome. If you search long enough, you can find some really cool stuff in there.

Well, I can see why you think it had no point, because the whole game was about what happened after the jump and before the city got glassed.
