It's funny you guys should mention this because just yesterday (No joke) I was playing my new subscription to XBL with my headset talking to a new online friend on "Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War."

We were having a great time when all of a sudden two Neo -blam!-s joined the game (I am seriously not joking) They were both friends, and they started talking -blam!- about all races other than white people, and screaming "WHITE POWER!" and "CLEANSE THIS COUNTRY!" into the Microphone.

This completely sickened me and my new online friend. So we defended our views (We are both Chrsistians) and of course they defended theirs. They picked on all races (Including people of the Jewish faith) But mostly African Americans. I have friends from all ends of the spectrum, Asians, African Americans, South Americans, Russian, Britians, Germans, other Europeans.... I mean the list just goes on and on and on. And to say the least, I wanted to kill these -blam!-S!

Well I left the server, and felt horrible. It gave me a new scary view on the world. I mean how can you hate someone so much that you want to go to their house and kill them all slowly. (What the -blam!-s kept saying) I mean come on. A scary experience online for a fourteen year old.

Anyways, that was just one long rant, sorry.

~Peace!~

goweb, It's a bad attitude to defend freedom of speech?

I didn't say we can't stop people from actually killing others or whatever, just that they have a right to say it, and they are abusing that right.

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. -Voltaire

"Those are children calling you those names. You can't stop them, so do not fret over what you cannot change."
That's such a bad attitude. If everyone had that attitude, everyone would still be calling black people "-blam!-s" and we'd still be killing -blam!- people.

Good point but what do you suggest we do? People take racism seriously when they shouldn't. I know it's a serious thing but when the only thing they are doing is hurting your feelings and they're a hundred thousand miles away it's so much easier to ignore them. I'm not racist I just think people are a little too uptight. I don't make racist jokes but as long as the only thing that they're doing is annoying you then why pay attention to them? Of course my opinion may be a little one sided because there is not much someone can say that's racist to piss off an average white guy. But I still get pretty pissed when people say......um... the word that's offensive to black people. If there isn't a black person around to kick the racist bastard's ass I'll do it myself.

Okay. Rant over.

Yes, it is. Because a lot of these words lead to violence and acceptance of violence towards these groups.

Besides, politics has no place in a multiplayer game of Halo.

Your right, Politics and Halo have nothing to do with each other.

it's politics that make these words taboo. And if the WORDS lead to violence then Halo itself should contribute a damn lot as well.

I still don't agree with racism, but just becuase you don't agree with it doesn't mean you can get rid of it. I myself don't "agree" with people using servers like chat rooms half of the time, so does that mean we should keep these players from playing at all?

Sorry but this is a political thread, whether anyone admits it or not... But censoring others based on YOUR own opinions is, in effect, a facist concept. If the US made it so people couldn't say racist things, then they also would have to make it so that people couldn't say anything else that offends some people.

Again, I'm not racist. I think racists are ignorant, insecure morons. But you can't stop someone else from TALKING racist just becuase you don't like it.

Yet another snappy quote:
"Deplorable violence is OK... As long as people don't say any naughty words!"
-Sheilah Brovlovski, South Park Movie
