JAke jake jake, of course it will sell less, but i'm saying that if anyone lays a finger on this game they will immiediatly be sucked into a state of euphoria and feel the need to buy the game at once. This playing of the game takes place at lan parties where friends bring friends. And game demos.

If i were bungie, i would release the game on august 24th with little to no warning. Then, i would advertise that it is out like crazy. And release a demo disc in november. Have you ever met a video gamer that didn't like halo? I can honestly say i haven't, even the peeps that suck really bad, they still love the game. 90%+ of all X-box owners own halo. I think they all will buy the sequel, regardless of when it comes out, or when they hear about it.

Sorry i don't have a link to the stat about the 90% thing.

Agree completely! In the long run Bungie will make the money that Halo 2 will make. I'm just saying why delay the process. Advertise it and get it out as fast as possible.

To me an early release would cause a bullwhip effect, meaning everthing that would happen without an early release would happen still with an early release but just delayed. So to Bungie what would be the point?

I still want it August 24, but don't think it is likely.

This was posted by someone else before, but the thread is long lost in the deep pages of this forum. Anyway, theres are some really good reasons H2 might release early. It was the thread that made me change my oppinion, here it is:

* The blog, which was created by Microsoft/Bungie indicates that something extremely important will happen on this date, something on the same level as other major historical events.

* The date 11+09+04 if added to create a sum is the number 24.

* From August 24th to November 9th there are 11 weeks, which of course are 7 days a piece. The SPARTAN number for John, Master Chief is 117.

* The game has been tested in alpha/beta stages for the past year, sufficiently long enough to collect enough data for a release, especially based on the excessive in-house testing that has occurred at Bungie over the last two months.

* The game recently acquired its international and ESRB ratings, something that happens usually right before or after a game goes gold, not three months in advance.

* Recovering from the "delays" which have plagued the game, it would justly serve the fanbase for an early release.

* It would remove Halo 2 competition from other potential great games to be released in Fall/Winter, which would intern benefit Microsoft.

* The game was 90% complete during E3, in May. We are now three months off that date. Frank, has already said he has played through a near-complete campaign build of the game. Complete enough to be rated by the ESRB and foreign rating firms. This would indicate a game just shy of gold.

* It's the only modern game which could successfully survive and still exceed profoundly in sales with a "stealth release."

* It's a sure thing. With copies already on hold at every electronic gaming outlet, there's no need for a pre-emptive marketing ploy. Just like the ARG/blog, marketing can occur word-of-mouth with a game like this and still be successful.

* A stealth release would only secure even more of a spotlight, being that its the only one done within recent history and its being done with the most anticipated second-generation game ever. It would demand media attention just due to the covert nature of the release.

* A two-week, fourteen-day media blitz (from 08/10 to 08/24) would be much more affordable for Microsoft in promoting the game then a drawn out, five-month promotion ring for a game to be a top-seller for Christmas.

* The original "Fall" release date for the game was September 1st, before the Bungie marketing campaign at E3 2004 set an "official" release date as November 9th. The previous date is less then a week from the date in question and is closer to the original, estimated date of March - June which was set by Microsoft, based on information gathered from Bungie on the date by which they would consider the game ready to ship back in 2003.

* Bungie has not denied this as of yet. With the rampant information, it would only negatively reflect against their marketing scheme by promoting a countdown to something apparently this significantly. With thousands of fans, all over the world, now expecting this, it would behoove Bungie to allow it to be perpetuated without some sort of rebuttal simply restating the release date.

* Recent webcams have indicated that the entire staff seems to be involved in a daily meeting with men dressed in business suits. This has only started happening within the last week, indicating a drastic change in pace from their frantic activities of the "crunch-time-weeks" just prior.

* The date is a Tuesday, which is the normal date a video game ships.

Hey, I'm 20, I still got time to care about a game coming out.

There are other important worries in everyone's life, but this site and this forum is made to discuss things about the only videogame anyone here cares about at the moment. So you post here about worries or thoughts about the game, nothing else in your life, that's why this post is here. So calm down

thanks for the "depressing"? post stalin. Don't think i don't know what you mean. I might know how you feel even more than you think you do.(that's right read that again, it makes sense).

And if i've learned anything, it's that everyone isn't happy. Everyone wants something, or someone, or to look better, or be better etc. So don't think you having hard times sets you apart. that's what i learned from a girl that changed my life, "Your life is no harder than anybody elses, so quit -blam!-ing."

If you go into a conversation treating the other person as if something terrible has just happened to them, more then half the time you'll be right. Come on peeps, feel the love.

To be honest, I have hope for other things in my life. I hope my girlfriend decides to stay with me, I hope i get the job i went for an interview for recently, etc. When you get to my age (18) videogames aren't as important as they once were. Its a sad fact, but its true. I still really enjoy playing them, they help me to relax in the evening or take my mind of worries, but they are just not such a big part of my life as they were when I was younger, say 8-16 years old. It sucks dude, but.... you grow up. It really sucks, I would give anything to be that young again, no worries, no REAL responsibilities.... And don't say something like 'doing chores' is a responsibility, cos it doesn't compare. Sorry to bring you down dudes, its just i have been through a hard time this past couple days, still going through hard times, thought i might share it with you.

Hey, this site is for people who do care about the game. I'm 23 in school and have alot of time to waste. So for me and others at the current time this is somewhat a hobby for me. Of course we will move on to other things and are doing other things so don't assume that this is all people do, care about, or for that matter know about.

Go away and grab your balls, suck it up, other people have problems too, except they deal with them instead of -blam!- about them.

November 9th for me. It would be a stupid thing to do to release it on August 24, cause then they'd need, by this time, 24 hour advertising to let all the halo 2 fans, that don't have internet, know about the new release date. I rest my case.

Does it makes sense when I say it's too late for an early release date? Because that's what I believe.

The large majority of Halo fans dont even come to this site, true. But honestly, if a game like Halo 2 came out on Aug 24, it wouldn't take any official advertising for anyone to know about it. The word would get out within a day, tops.

well, after frankie said that it won't be released on aug 24th, that kinda screwed up the theory. I still believe that it could come out early too, but the mods have made it clear that going out and telling the world that aug 24th si the release date is misinformation, so I'm just gonna keep it to myself :P

If it does release early though, we should know aug 23rd. Cause ebgames calls you a day before if you pre order a game. Course, they might not do that just cause its halo 2....

Not saying you were flaming, but theres stupid people on this forum, and you just basicly said a november release is impossible, that can make some august supporting people mad, and thus start a flame war.

sorry, double posted.

If it is releasing early someone would see it through the supply chain (shippin, manufacturing, packaging, etc.) and word would leak. You would probably know days ahead of time anyways maybe weeks.

Yanno...Frankie didnt convince me

Now. Now. Hear me out.

I posted this in a thread a while back, but that thread got erased (erased, not locked)

In Frankie's post he states that "Halo 2 is coming out on Nov. 9th or Nov. 11th for the UK. It is NOT coming out on Aug 24th." And again he says "To reiterate, Halo 2 is coming out on Nov. 9th or Nov. 11th for the UK"

He states it twice, but each time you can read the semantics to mean that it comes out in the UK on Nov 9 or 11. It says nothing about the US, and until Frankie or another Bungie employee (Not a mod) comes out and says it's coming out on Nov 9 IN AMERICA, I can still validly believe it can be released early.

Also, using the context of his post, it would read "Halo 2 is coming out on Nov. 9th or Nov. 11th for the UK. It is NOT coming out on Aug 24th (for the UK)"

My take on it, anyways.

or Nov. 11th (means if your talking about UK)

c'mon now......don't be THAT gullible, you know what he meant.

Nov. 9th (U.S.) or Nov. 11th (means if your talking about UK)
