It is a little bit of a bother for me, since I liked to open a reply window, lock the thread and then type in the reason.
You could click 'reply' in the first window, lock the thread in the second, type out the reply, unlock the thread in the second window, then post the reply and lock it again.
Although you probably do that now anyway.
