I like how your avater is a Forging Monitor.

You should get Hylebos to drop a comment on this thread too, would be great for it's credability. (For all I know he's probably done it ages ago..)

I just want to say that I'm loving this thread and I find it extremely useful. I'm not just gonna save it, I'm gonna copy and paste every lesson and make a personal file for them on my computer for quick access and just in case some idiot causes this to be locked or you get banned.

Please keep up the great work and I sincerely hope the entire thread is operable by Halo: Reach's release.

EDIT:

I just wanted to say that I retract my statement about Hylebos already being here, I weren't aware that this was the first page.

Still, I'm loving this thread and it shall be crucial in the remaking of my best map: Stalemate.

Again, thank you for giving me faith in the community.

Lol definitely one of my favorite testimonies. But have no fear Silver because all of these are on my blog, ReachingPerfection.com as well... actually all 19 of them are. I also write a new one every other day so lesson 20 comes out on Friday over there. Here's the full list: Forge Lessons. Also I'm going to take a look at your Stalemate map tomorrow and see if I can get you some good feedback for reach. And I am quite flattered that I have given you faith back in the community... lol

Thank you, Godly, for posting these lessons. I kept hoping for more info from the Incompetent Cartographer, but that well seems to have run dry. Now I don't need it. I'm especially interested in what you have to say on spawning, since I have zero experience messing with it and only the shadow of an idea of how it should work. I've saved this thread and eagerly await your coming installments. With a little luck I may just have a shot at building something worth playing...

Well I hope these satiate your thirst for map design skills. And I have already covered spawns and stuff in my lessons. Like I said above to Silver that I already have all of these lessons written on my blog. I am just transcribing them. And I have faith that you will definitely build something worth playing. Get active on my blog and I will guarantee it lol... ;)

I made one really good map, which I can't wait to use Forge 2.0. I will look at some of your lessons. I've had many players paly from noobs to generals, and everyone likes it. Couple of glitches, but that is because I could not be bothered spending an extra few hours lining things up.

I wanted to add more, but didn't have the time. Forge 2.0 should be much easier and give me plenty of time.

Well I hope you did take a look at the lessons. Good luck with your Forge 2.0 creations. ;)

Still better than you.

.....most of you, at least.

Will read later, if I have too many problems.

Thanks anyway though.

Yeah, I don't play much Reach nowadays...waiting until a real Halo game comes out so I can pick that up instead

Thread saved, will read later

Well I hope you read them regardless of problems cuz since I release a new one every other day (after the first 19 of course lol... lesson 20 comes out friday) you may have to play quite some catchup lol...

Thread saved, will read later

And another read later... grrr... well it's all good as long as you guys actually do read them. Or you may fall behind in the design world. ;) Hope to hear some good testimonies from you too.

Wow...I'm glad that this has been released on Bungie.net. I mean, it was at TGG and RP for AGES. I've read most of them, but I'm a little behind.

This will help me get into forge, as I won't just be aimlessly forging stuff.

I think we all owe GodlyPerfection a HUGE cookie :D

If I can come with a request: Could you write a lesson about weapon placement?

I have problems with scattering weapons around on my maps. I don't feel like randomly throwing around weapons across my maps, and so I have a bad habbit of making like, temples for pistols and such..

I will take the time very soon to cover more specific weapon placement. For now try to think about how incentives should be placed because that is what weapons are. Read all of the lessons place a weapon and then see if it follows all of those conventions. If not then think about what you did wrong and try again. It is always best to learn by exploring. Remember the eye catching lesson as well. Use path manipulation for players to find weapons etc.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

Very well thought out. I've read some but I'll have to save the rest for later.
