I love to forge all day all the time

Thats exactly me! I always forge, I spend almost all of my time forging (which explains my "love of forge" avatar!), making a little bit of time to matchmake and do some map tests in custom games.

Life is like a clogged toilet. It's full of crap until you do something about it.

I don't speak Karate!

what annoys me the most while forging is that I can never seem to get blocks making up floors to line up perfectly smooth, so that you dont feel a bump walking over them, especially when I need stairs that are longer than just a ramp large peice.

Vendetta

Vendetta: Official Trailer

Apart from his design theory, over the past half-year that I've known him, Godly's always drawn the 'in crowd' of design, which was one of my reasons for following him, his creations, and his lessons closely during the greatest time I've had in my design 'career'. Take it from me that he knows what he's talking about when it comes to this kind of thing, and it would be one of the best things you could do for yourself as an early (or veteran) designer to read his lessons which stem not from personal preference, but from experience and the feedback and mindset of others. Godly's Forge lessons are at core an extension of years of experience and knowledge of the community and mind of the player meshing together to make for some outstanding guides. This is where I throw in the seller line which is "It helped me and it can help you, too!!!!". But seriously, the guides are top-notch. I'm glad to be a part of (and an active part of more than anything) the small but close community of designers he's rounded up for his own group.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Thank god for the short version.

If you hop, you'll only die in the air.

Here it is, Mouse Trap. A Cleverly created map, for SWAT, that literally throws you into the action. This high speed Forge variant starts with everyone in the center racing for a portal that launches you back at the ring. This map will increase your accuracy while moving, and steady your hands. It works with all slayer variants, but was built for The Big Cheese, Rat Race and Peter Piper's Revenge. In Rat Race, assassinations are worth extra points for leverage and to further humiliate your opponents!

The Big Cheese - SWATball
Peter Piper's Revenge - SWAT Headhunter

This non-stop action packed thriller of head shots and flying bodies will transform the way you play HALO!

I'm just cutting my teeth on Reach and Forge.
Luckly Godly's tips are handy as I dive into designs.

One of the biggest things I discovered figuring out Forge, is that when it comes to lining things up, moving them by hand is pretty much a waste of time.

I place everything using the "edit coordinates" tool (at least as a last step).
Even if it's a large initial piece alone, go to edit coordinates for a final nudge. This will align the piece to the overall numbers of the map.
Later pieces (using the edit coordinates) can then be matched to the same height, depth etc.

For speed, using the rotation snap is useful as well to get a bunch of pieces to the same orientation.

Hope that helps. Again, I'm fairly new at this myself but it was the biggest bit of useful info I figured out on my own at the beginning.

BTW: It probably still needs some work, but I'd love feedback from anyone on my one contribution to fileshare so far.

Map: Port Facility 3Kilo

Took easy route on a basic slayer map until I get proficient at customizing for specific game types.
