Every time I play Halo this question ponders my mind:
The Earth is Spherical in shape. Therefore, as Columbus describes it, it's impossible to walk off the edge. But the Halo ring's surface is completely flat. So what the heck would happen if someone decided to walk off the edge of Halo? Would they walk out into space and die or be pushed back or what?

Interesting question, although it seems that Installation 04 is lined with rather huge mountains that pretty much are way to steep for any human to climb, and I think they would fall and burn in the Atmosphere if ever did get over those mountains.

I would guess that there is some type of barrier holding the waters of Halo on the ring. I have no idea what kind, and no one else knows either. It's one of Halo's unanswered questions. ;-)

Some sort of barrier I would think, most likely a physical, metal wall. Possibly a force field or something, but those can fail.

The gravity would hold them to halo.

Every object in existence, regardles of how big or small, exerts a gravitational pull: however, I am assuming that halo's gravitational pull (keeping you and the atmosphere on-baord) is caused by centrifuge as the ring spins, and thus, should you step over the side of the rings barriers, you would... well, float away, i presume.

Or you would just float of the side...
