I've had Halo for PC for months, and have never been able to play it. It used to give me a message about my drivers, and I updated, now, it gives me some message, about Gathering Exception Data...

I wait, and then it closes, and I get the option window to Send an error report or w/e...

If you can help, i'd be greatly appreciated.

I run Windows XP, Radeon 9800, 2 gigs of ram, and 160 gigs of space.

The CD is NOT burned, its store bought.

if you have tried modding the maps then there is an error just reinstall the maps or use the back up maps you should have created.

I have reinstalled over and over, and I have another system, but the other one is so infected with spyware, adware, and viruses, that nothing runs right. I got halo when that system was in good shape. And it didn't work then, because the specs on the pc weren't high enough.

I can tell you how many times I got this damn message. It was very annoying. It went away after I restarted my computer. Hopefully that will fix your problem. Just try restarting your computer after you send the error report and see if it works then.

Bejay, I have an up-to-date Anti Virus, and two up-to-date firewalls. I have dozens of adware scanners, and I just got my pc a few months ago, I don't think I have a virus. I have a scan every week, and i'm clean...Except for some stupid toolbar crap i can't seem to get rid of, but I know for a fact, thats not screwing anything, because Halo didn't work at all when I got my pc, at first it said somthing about Direct x 3d And i updated direct X, then I got this...

I have not sent an error report, I guess i'll do so now..

Also, sorry if i've been a bit of an -blam!-. :)

Try getting all the updates from here

Trail strings
Auto-patcher
Hotfix 1.07

you need all of these to get it running properly
To use these just download them anywhere, and then doubel click on it, to get it started ;)

I am haveing the exact same prob and i havent tampered with any maps or n e thing and my pc is brand new like 2 weeks old. The only things i have on my pc are yahoo aim and halo and i was playing it fine lastweek but for the last five days when i try to run halo the first screen opens then minimizes and a tiny (annoying ass peice of -blam!-) box opens wich reads "Gathering Exception Data" witch gives no info and a feiw seconds later closes opening an error report messege witch i have sent many times. I have reinstalled halo over thirtyfive times and still the exception data messege opens up.

ps the ppl at bungie for some strange reason wont reply to any of my e mails and when they do they tell me that this is a common problem and i should go to the microsoft help page (witch currently is down and has been down for qite some time now). Does bungie hate me?

Reinstall windows. You "should" do this every 6 months, but who does really. It fixes SO many problems.

Some kind of corruption in halo's files. Halo will do the whole Exception! deal when there somthing in the code that isn't where its supposed to be or doesn't belong in halo. Try reinstalling the game. Thats the only way to fix it that i know of.
