Subject: A problem someone could solve please?

Hi everyone. If someone could tell me what's going wrong. I have my suspicions if someone could confirm.

Basically I have a 50MEG connection and 1.5 upload speed provided by Virgin. Now I used to host quite a bit in MM but recently playing with one guy in Dubs I never ever get host at all when I play with him and majority of the time he gets host!

He's fiddled around with his router settings but I'm sure that's not all he's done. I gave him my Internet IP address and he also knows my Xbox IP address. He told me how he opened up his ports or something like that on his router but since then when ever I play with him, my shots very rarely count, it can be a tiny bit laggy, my nades hardly do anything and sometimes when I sword lunge or melee it doesn't work at all.

It doesn't seem to effect him and the opposing team at all, plus for anyone else on our team it's even worse for them than it is for me (if we're in MLG or slayer).

Sometimes before we play he gets me to join or host customs, and gets me to join and leave after various times. These games are no warm ups as all we do is just sit there.

Like I said, I have a 50MEG connection and 1.5 upload speed provided by Virgin. Now I know he has an average connection like 10MEG or something like that but noway near as good as mine. His upload would be poor compared to mine too.

I know something is very wrong when I play with him. It's fine when I'm not with him and I host above average like normal. Ive been playing Halo since the beginning and like all veterans can tell when the game is not playing or behaving like it should do.

Now...I'm not crying cus I want host all the time or asking you guys how to host, I'm fine with my host record.
What I do want is someone to explain what is happening, ie Force Host etc

Thanks for reading this and would be a great help if someone gave me an explanation {",}

P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Host is more to do with your connection history and host record rather than your connection. So if some gets a new Xbox this usually makes them host for a while because the console holds the host record.

Playing on a host that's far away from your house in inevitably going to cause problems. Everyone plays good on host.

if you want it back to how it used to be, reset your router. Hold the reset button for about 10 seconds. this will reset all the router settings back to default.

want to see some great videos then go to my youtube channel youtube.com/salsav91

here are some possible worst case scenarios:

because you gave him your ip address, he can now ip flood you (cause lag/slow your connection)

he has a lag switch.

he has a router mod that gives him host (thats why everyone lags when he hosts, because the mod forces the system to host him)

now here are some solutions:

call you ISP ask them if there is any problems going on with you internet connection (usually they can find ip floods in their system)

that all i got
