Why did Xbox Original games have to be shut off?
Bring back Halo 2, that was probably in my opinion the best game that was ever created.

many people grow a custom to the old halo games but when they play the newer halo everythings changed. so they rather play halo 2 than 3

The original XBL games lost live because a. not that many people were playing it and b. they wanted to update Live for the new Xbox so that they can have XBL for motion sensitive games, but were too lazy to make the new XBL backwards compatible with old XBL games, because there was no money in it.

Halo 2 for Life!

It should have died in the first place. For a servies called "live" it sure did kill alot of it's service. It should be called xbox dead, xbox 360 live. Taking away so much of it's service is just bad service and bussness.

I agree with massive now come to think of it. First of all if my memory serves me right, ever since the release of the XBox 360 was released, there has been less intrest in regular XBox. But we all know that Halo 2 is able to work well inside the 360.

To lose money as I can see is very poor business.

I think the thing that saddens me most about Halo: 2 being removed from XBL is that I cannot re-download the map-packs anymore. I have all but the last 2 that were released on disk. Did Bungie say that they were working on a work around for this or has it completely fallen to the wayside? The other day I noticed that even though you cannot play H2 online, it is still possible to receive title updates. Maybe they coudl push all the maps in a final title update? Aside from the update being on the large side, I don't see why this would be too difficult, and long for all the maps to be retrievable for LAN party purposes.

What makes me upset is that, since Halo 2 was dying it was easier to get closer to everyone. I had a full list of basically all halo 2 players, but since H2 Died I only have about 5-10 Halo 2 friends still on my friends list. I mean, even if it was dying, everybody that still played, played for hours. I dont think I have ever spent my time on any other game than Halo 2.

The account that I have right now has 7219 games played on Halo 2. This is my 5th account, I had 4 other accounts that I played non stop when halo 2 was live and running. I would probably say I played about 30,000 games on halo 2. Yeah, I admit that I played halo 2 A LOT, but the games went by fast if you were good.

Also, Halo 2 made me good at FPS games, I was in my 40+ legit on halo 2. Right when I got halo 3 and my 360, I had a feeling that I wasnt going to play it that often, since my whole list was conducted with halo 2 players. So, I got halo 3 about a month after it released and on the second day of halo 3 I reached level 50 in Dubs, and Team Slayer. Im not trying to make myself cocky, but that game took no skill. If you know how to BR and just camp back, you'll win the game. Halo 2 you had to rush or hold your ground. Halo 2 was way harder leveling to a 50, Like 3-4 Years of playing halo 2, and I've only reached 50 once. I got a 50 in 2 days on halo 3.

Basically, I just want halo 2 back online, if only bungie can hear US out. I dont care if all my stats get reset i'll start at level 1 if I have to. Bungie should just bring back Halo 2. The reason why they took it off was a fail, I read that the reason why they took off halo 2 wasn't because it was "dying" but because Microsoft wanted to take off original xbox games for more room on your friends list.
WE STILL HAVE 100 PLAYERS IS THE MAX YOU CAN HAVE ON YOUR LIST.
Either way, why would they need to shut off original xbox games? why couldnt they just patched it or made it to where you can BUY more slots with Microsoft points. I payed my account monthly, so each month that im on and playing halo 2 was $11, $11 a month where there were about 500 people still playing. I mean imagine if you could have 500 people paying you $11 a month, thats a lot of money, thats about $5000 a MONTH. So I really dont know why Bungie would shut off original XBox games if Bungie was getting $5000 a month.

It would even be nice if the split the service, with original xbox games talking to an old set of servers. I'm sure they could push that out with an update, so that 360s talk to one set of servers and old xbl has another. Its a shame that HAlo 2 for xbox is gone, but even more of a shame that it seems it wont be coming back save for H2V which is kind of a flop. (I have it, but I don't feel the same community)

this poll is kinda biased though, lol

A hero is more than a person, a hero is a belief. A belief that, against impossible odds, the world can be saved—and that the world is still worth saving. Heroes inspire that belief in us. They renew our faith and give us that most precious of all gifts—hope. The world needs heroes. That's why, when a true hero arrives, the world will honor him.

Like stated, why not just have a few servers dedicated to H2? for real, it can't be that costly for Bungie. No offense guys, just saying that Halo2 was THE reason I started playing Halo. Back when it first came out, me and 7 of my friends played all night, system linked, on coagulation. I haven't nearly had as much fun with the series with them since that game. PLEASE! HERE OUR CRIES BUNGIE!

RIP Halo 2

I'm very indifferent to it. It won't happen anyways.

Loved Halo 2 though. My favorite game.

The main barriers for this is Microsoft, Halo is Microsoft ip and Halo 2 uses the xbox live service to connect users. Microsoft would have to be willing to allow Bungie to operate some of those or do it themselves. Also, not to be two sided another problem would be that as the number of online players shrink, levels will become more or barrier than a tool, as it will segregate the player pool. I don't know if anything can be done to resurrect Halo 2 match-making, but I'd really like some way to preserve all of the Halo 2 content.

It allows you to use Xbox 360 controller.

It would be a good idea to resurrect support for Halo 2 Vista, and remake Halo 2 for Xbox 360, then make them cross-platform. :D

I've made it my life goal to never become too stressed. So if I appear to be doing nothing all the time and generally never working particularly hard on any task, that's my plan in action.

In my opinion, yes, they should make Halo 2 playable on Xbox Live. They say that not many people played it and that's why they took it down. I know that the reason my friends and I didn't play it too often were because the voice communications were terrible. They should let you talk on Xbox Live in parties and put the game back on live and I'm sure they'll get the positive results.

OK here is my thought on this.

Because of the fact that the 360 took over the oringinal XBox making the 360 more popular & with much better graphic card in it. I do not see why they had to discontinue this.

Driver,

From what I last heard as of last year, Since the discontinue of Halo 2 live, this may also include any updates like the multiplayer maps. So from what I see, this was already confirmed.

I am the Great Defender....Prepare to die

Halo 2 was the reason I didn't appreciate Halo 3. I've never been a forge fan so that didn't appeal to me and Halo 2 had the clan system. Because of that alone I spent many hours playing.
