People, listen.

You may have heard in game informer and/or OXM of cool stuf that bungie hasn't told us, but that stuff is totally unreliable. OXM may be a famous magazine, but the only source that we can truely rely on Bungie. Everything you see in these magazines could be true, but if it hasn't been released or confirmed by bungie, dont beleive it. When someone says something is officail because it said it in game informer, they are wrong. It is offical when bungie says it. So, if you didn't hear it from bungie, just say something like "I heard that OXM said the MC can throw banana peels at the enemy, but bungie hasn't said a thing, so i dont know." Thanks for reading, and you can argue that those companies wouldn't stoop down to the level of lying, just dont flame me.

He's saying that not everything they say is absolutely true. Some of the stuff is reliable because they played it but other stuff could just be assumptions and gossip.

dont u think that bungie would have given them permission to write all that stuff. Think about it. If its not true and then when Halo2 comes out OXM looks like a bunch of sh1t that fell out of a building.

I don't know about all that OXM stuff, but what was in GI was true. Why would Bungie put screenshots from a false article on their own site?

  • 08.10.2004 11:35 AM PDT

i think that the screenshot probably come from bungie first.

People can lie to sell their magazine but lose credibility. After a magazine has lost its credibility Bungie and other software developers would no longer give them any information about their games. In the end the magazine would sell less copies. So would it really be OXM or GI best interest to lie about halo 2?

I think not.

Yes, they gave them to GI, but didn't have them on the site until after the article. Boosting was (as far as I know) first mentioned in that issue also, and we know that's for sure in. And besides, if Bungie did find a false article they would've shot it down by now.

Those magazines ONLY report on what they saw or where they were told about by Bungie.

well obviously screenshots have to be legit. But yeah, if a mag says there will be banana peel throwing and wet noodle melee that might have been true at the time of writing (or might have been possible at the time of writing) but that doesn't mean it will be in the final game. Besides, even the most honest reporters still get things a little goofy. Ever notice how some of the articles worded things just a little wierd and everyone speculated like crazy because of it?
-I don't think anyone should charge off on a theory without at least knowing where the "facts" came from
