So, PoA, Package and LNoS incomplete?

Betcha I can beat Noble Actual and Lone Wolf on Mythic!

That is correct. Currently I'm working on "The Package".

Am I banging a dog in a ditch or am I Paki Rambo???

Do I have 2 complete the missions in order?? Or can I just pick any mission I like?

Any order works just fine.

  • 09.25.2010 8:41 AM PDT

Order is not required, though in this case the first one is the easiest.

Ok thanks for the help, and good luck 2 everyone who is doing mythic! Have fun guys XD

This is the film of my Exodus run. I skipped 2 big fights at the part where you get the jetpack.

Damn. Got to the last ultra in ONI Sword base. He banzai charged me. Should've just jumped off the bridge, but nooooo. But that's not the interesting part.

What was interesting was while I was assaulting the comms tower, my Noble 6 reset to default armor and had a sex change when I blinked. That was weird. He/She only fixed Himself/Herself when I was trying to get the gauss hog over the barricade.

Aww...I wanted to be the first to show your can skip the first two jetpack battles. Congratulations to you anyway.

I'm going to give mythic a shot in this game, I beat solo legendary in 11 hrs and it wasn't too too bad...but I did die like 280 something times, so trying to not die at all on a harder difficulty, that's going to be crazy!

Like I say to all people starting out on mythic: Try playing Mythic minus the Iron and Blind skulls. It really helps. Before I try to tackle a level on Mythic, I play without Iron and Blind. You can see what works that way and you can tell what weapons are affected by the Famine Skull.

Out of curiousity, has anyone figured out a better way to kill the ultra elites other than either assassinations or 3 overcharged PP shots and a headshot?

The best I've done was a 1 vs. 1 fight, Plasma Rifle vs. Plasma Rifle against an Ultra. I had to stay close enough for him to shoot at me and throw grenades whilst avoiding it all to lower his shields and go for a headshot. Other than that, I've also done the same thing with the Plasma Pistol.

It's not so much different from fighting Brutes in terms of techniques per range; our mid-range game is not even close to being as effective as it was in Halo 3 or ODST due to how strong Ultras shields are vs. the overcharge. Not only does it take 3 shots, but I noticed while playing through the Campaign again (my campaign progress erased itself) that the Plasma Pistol adds an additional three smaller points in when the overcharged shot is considered to have a lock (it's not as fast as in 3 or ODST to get a lock), but when Elites do their hop to the side, it actually breaks the lock from the overcharged shot.

Well, ONI: Sword Base is down and that Zealot and General at the end took ages to kill. But it's done so I'm gonna do Nightfall next (may as well just do them in order).

I remember that Tyrant made a forum post about killing elites in the "The Quest for SLASO" group. He did a controlled test; he tried different plasma weapons to see what was the most efficient. I believe plasma pistol (the pew pew pew fire mode for it) took the least amount of times, followed by the repeater, then the rifle.

I don't remember a zealot at the end (I guess that means he never stood a chance lol), but that general was easy for me, no offense. All I did was peek out from behind a corner and shot my plasma pistol at him. He doesn't move for whatever reason. But hey, you've beaten the level and I haven't. Good job man.

The Zealot at the end of Sword Base has white armour and dual wields Plasma Rifles. He's in the room with the Data Pad, and if he's not dead peek shooting the General is impossible if he's paying any attention at all.

As for the peek shooting, it took ages because I had no shields, low health and had to find the exact spot to get him from. Kat and Jun kept getting in the way and attracting fire to my location too. -_-

Oh, that guy? I remember him while I pulled my gauss hog up to the entrance of sword base. He ran off towards where you start the mission; I never saw him since.

I think i found a way to skip the checkpoint where this zealot and general spawns. I tried it on legendary without skulls and it worked. I can make a film of it.

I've almost got "The Package" finished. I'd like to make the final skirmish go a bit quicker but don't think I can.

Question, is there any way I can make a Banshee hover rather than always propelling itself forward? This would help a LOT!

  • 09.26.2010 6:29 AM PDT

Not unless you're flying a Halo 1 banshee, to my knowledge.

I miss the Halo 1 banshee.

i did a seven skull play through on winter contingency. no iron, black eye, famine, or blind. the ultra's ate 3 consecutive overcharged plasma shot's. fighting out every battle is going to be damn near impossible dude. i died twice taking everything out but it is going to be the toughest slaso yet by far.

to the guy who said to do it properly he should try it on legendary with iron only, to see what it would be like.

i used to play halo 3 final mission slaso for fun. but this isnt even in the same dimension.

also i heard that if you wait till the plasma pistol fires itself then it will remove a shield no matter what.

Those were good times. I recall having hours of fun by loading up Two Betrayals and raining fuel rod hell down on the Covenant :-)

It's certainly worth testing. Thanks for pointing it out :-) And yes I agree with you. As they would say in The Chronicles of Riddick. This is a whole "new kind of evil".

Inside 'Sword Base'? I think I found that too while doing todays challenge (which doesn't reward nearly enough cR btw).

Gonna try it out a bit more.

They should have made that a weekly challenge, made it solo required, and give way more CR. Especially since I don't have time to play any Reach today :(

This is the way I used: ONI: Sword Base shortcut. Although this is on normal I'm almost sure it will work on Mythic.

ONI: Sword Base done.

Did you guys know that on the AA battery, you don't have to go to the roof to activate it? Nope. You can jump up from underneath it (maybe while standing on a hog if you're having trouble) and hit it that way. Just like the gates on The Storm in Halo 3!

Speedrunning tricks FTW!

The first fight is probably the hardest. The rest can be taken fairly easily with allies and vehicles and such. Especially since we can get that 'hog over the barriers! *phew*

Oh, btw, I used a ghost parked backwards in between two of the barriers and then ran my Guass 'hog at it to get over the barriers. I didn't want to mess around with grenades. A Revenant will work too. It requires a bit of luck to actually GET a intact vehicle, but it means you don't run the risk of blowing yourself or the guass up!

That means I'm 4/9 on Reach. With Winter Contingency, ONI: Sword Base, Tip of the Spear and New Alexandria done.

Yep, thats pretty much it. I took out those two Needle Rifle Jackals just to make sure they wouldn't ping me.

The way I go up is actually a bit earlier than that. See this speedrun by slYnki(AKA, SnipeDaWoop) (6:30 onwards) for a demonstration. For Mythic, just throw in a couple of headshots on those two jackals just at the top of the bridge. Well, if you want to go across the middle bridge, if you go the way slYnki does, I guess you won't need to.

Sorry Aura and Vincent!
