This is not reliable, but it's worth a shot: in the second smelting room, after killing the jackals and the elite, run up the stairs on run on the right catwalk with your DMR zoomed on the door. As soon as the door opens, immediately open fire on the grunts. I find quite often, the elite gets frozen in the door. Pick up a plasma pistol from one of the dead jackals and pepper away. Unless of course your barricade works flawlessly, then never mind.

What do you guys think; will there be a LASO challenge tomorrow?

Is it possible you're just burning ammo by chance? That NR is precious and you should never waste more than 5 shots per regular brute, and 8 for captains. It's possible that you're just spamming your shots more often now though which happens when you're under pressure.

Whenever I play through PoA I'm very conscious of my ammo at all times. When I'm at that landing pad I'll always have a full NR and DMR and I never waste more ammo then I need. For example say I'm trying to kill a brute, I'll shoot him once and wait for his reaction. If he AL's, I hold off and wait till he's out of his invince-frames then quickly hit him 3 times with precise shots. If he dodges, I'll quickly put two shots into him, kill him, and have used the least ammo needed for the job.

In all honesty, right now I'm working on a much more aggressive approach to the landing pad for a variety of reasons. For one, I'd like to be more mobile and feel safe at the same time rather than being couped up in a corner for 10-15 minutes. Also, with the way I'm fighting right now, if my plasma pistol(s) despawns before the Chieftains arrive, I'm done for. I'd like to change that and allow myself easier access to the ground areas.

Those are the kinds of things I've been working on :-)

Tried it. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes he just stands there if I don't kill any of the Grunts. I've just started engaging him in combat since he isn't that difficult anymore.

Been looking at some different tactics for PoA. Have a question regarding the second smelting room. How do you keep the enemies from spawning right away? it seems to be random for me. Sometimes they will. Sometimes they won't. Do I need to jump through the window a specific way?

It isn't a huge deal. So far it appears that if I ignore the Grunts and go straight for the Elite, often times he doesn't even move.

Once I jump through the window, I look up, take out the 2 NR jackals, then I take out the shield jackels down low, grab PP, pp/dmr the camo elite, then back up, take out the up high shield jackals, then make my way to the stairs, and this is where I think i've got a good strategy. For some reason, if I stand back far enough, and as soon as the door opens, DMR the two grunts in the head, the elite will stand in the doorway for quite some time, sometimes allowing me to PP him all the way down, and grab a headshot.

EDIT: Looks like Michael does something similar. Nvm.

To save ammo, I only used the needle rifle for brute minors and the chieftans. I DMRed the captains. At the end, I felt I still had a bit left, so I needled the captains a bit too, but I think at the end of the landing pad, I still had a few mags left.

Even if you grab all the needle rifles in the drone caves and the the needle rifles in the second smelting room, you still won't be full a lot of the time. Try grabbing another needle rifle from the jackals near the suicide grunts next to the wraith.

EDIT: Or, if you don't like suicide grunts, the two jackals in the tower have needle rifles you can get easily.

I did pretty much the opposite. I DMR'd the minors, as they only take like 3 shots to de-hat them. I NR'd the captains to save DMR ammo.

Can I just say that running on the rooftops of the left side of re wraith area is much much easier than taking out the gunner and mongoosing past. I just sprint along and when I get to the end I rocket the small group of grunts and jackals.

Oh and by the way I've learned that I am absolutely terrible at grenade jumping. I can't for the life of me make that jump in boneyard, I might have to stick to despawning the enemies.

I believe that I know what you are talking about. Do you mean jump onto that truck, then onto the roof of the buildings and run over to the left side of that area?

I find it just as easy to pop the gunner and drive on the left side of the wraith right past him. never gave me much trouble.

I've started doing something different for the Wraith area that gets me through I'd say 9 times out of 10. It isn't as fast as the mongoose method, but it looks slightly more badass and has a higher success rate.
Over the rooftops on the left hand side of the area? I do that in my Legendary run. Was wondering whether or not to tell you guys since it requires a sprint-jump that can sometimes screw up. But I'm confused that you say its not as fast since I specifically picked that because it was faster than killing the jackal marksmen and the captain on the turret, and then mongoosing it down.

Equals this:

I did indeed :)

I just got to the landing pad and the DMR crate is not there, is there something I have to do to get it to spawn?

Its inside the wall. Tap against the box inside or melee the wall where it spawns.

Well i died, but there was no crate there. It it usually right up against the back wall right? Also on another note, you were saying you were running out of ammo during that fight, there are 2 magnums that spawn inside that building, I think they are in the crate with the ARs.

Oh and in the second smelting room I put 2 boxes and all those barrels in front of the door and none of the grunts or elite made it through they all just stood there

No, the crate is there! Don't give up! Did you check the cliff? On my run, I thought I was going to have to do without it, but then on the second wave, I found it lying on the cliff; sometimes it pops out on its own.

Even if you lose the DMR crate, there's some magnums in the building and a sniper rifle on top. I was this close to making it through the third wave with the magnums and then I got stuck by the plasma launcher chieftan.

Next time, check the cliff. :(

I will say, though, that I am starting to hate the Mass Driver and am wondering if there's a better way to deal with it. It just seems like such a shame that the entire mission comes down to a coin toss. That's extremely poor mission design...

You can enter the mass driver with full shields and health, but on the off chance that a Banshee gets an itch to use its fuel rod cannon, your toast. Horrible.

It took me awhile, the only things purchased prior to inclement weather were the ODST helmet and the cheapest chest piece you could buy at Lt. Col so I could get those achievements. You get 2 million credits by general so it wasn't that bad. Although at 250 credits per campaign run it might take a long time to get there for some of you :)
