Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Good tips!

I'm hoping to have Package done by tonight. I found a great way of getting through most everything. The biggest clench point in the mission is the room with camouflaged Elites. After that, it's just tedious.

Wait. So you can not die at all?

Oh you can die as much as you like.

Just every time you do, you gotta start from the begining of the level :P

EDIT: just saw Legendary Smile's run of Exodus.... AWESOME. Going low and then jumping up on the first jetpack section was badass. Didn't think of that!

EDIT2: Uploaded my ONI: Sword Base run, since I've basically told you all its secrets anyway :P Plus its only an hour long, even if I do take ages at the comm station, rather than Vince's hour and a half :P

Twenty-ninth Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror
Eleventh Halo 3: ODST Mythic Conqueror
Fifth Halo: Reach Mythic Conqueror

Finally! Damn, that took forever.

I think the end would have been a hell of a lot less stressful if it wasn't for my dad threatening to turn the Xbox off on me. He really hates my hobby, for whatever reason.

Yes, the level's been beaten before, but I've been really busy and I want to play the levels in order at my own pace. Also, I hanging onto the possibility that I'm the first person to have NEVER been killed by the concussion elite on after the hunters on Mythic. I lost count of how many times I've played and failed that level on Mythic, but I can tell you for a fact that I've never been killed by that guy. The elite that Tyrant said would "make or break the mission."

And why are people complaining about that zealot with the dual plasma rifles? He runs away when you get close.

Two down, seven to go. Nightfall doesn't seem TOO bad, in theory. There's active camo after all. But even when I crouch walk, they still seem to see me.

That Elite never got me either seeing as the only time I passed the first battle was the time I completed it.
And I tihk we're talking about different Elites, the guy I'm referring to camps the room where the Shotgun spawns in multiplayer, directly below the ledge that the Fuel Rod wieldign General rains death from.

Also, why do you guys need ramps or grenades to get the Gauss hog over the barriers? Just use its cannon to shoot the corners off two of them then drive it over. Simples.

Anyhow, Nightfall next. After watching Vince's run I wondered if it would be worth spending more time at the start to secure an Active Camo AA than spending nearly 15 minutes just to kill the last Elite...

Because it's still hard to get over. In my video, I do shoot off both the corners, but it takes me a while to drive over them.

It's a fluke that I beat that level, really. At the end, one of the camo elites throw a grenade at me. It would've stuck me because I was carelessly looking through my rocket launcher's sights trying to shoot him, but the explosion from the rocket I shot at the same time he threw it deflected the grenade and missed me an inch.

Good thing too, because I probably would have murdered everyone I know if that stuck me.

Well I tried Winter contingency it is much easier than anything else. I stayed out of action and died at the end because of silly mistake. The first two can be completed. Just wondering has anyone finished one of the other levels?

There's just one thing i dont understand. I get that people want more of a challenge than Legendary had to offer, but i don't see where the fun comes in if you just find ways around 90% of the conflict. I commend you for getting through it. it's awesome that you're making a guide to help others. i have no personal problem with anything about this, and i'm not even slightly interested in trolling. it's just something that i don't fully comprehend.

If you beat legendary so easily that you need a new challenge, why go out of your way to ensure you get the least ammount of challenge from it. It's like paying extra money for a gourmet meal, only to throw out all the fancy stuff that's cooked too well.

Good post, i hope you make it through. =)

Practicality and ammo conservation. If you fought everything with Tilt, Mythic and Famine active you'd have nothing left aside from your fists very quickly.

Also, because even avoiding 90% of the battles is harder than Legendary.

My goal is to complete one level on Mythic a week in order. So far, so good. This week: Nightfall.

Those are excellent questions, and thank you for taking the time to ask :-)

I guess a challenge can mean something different to different people. If you look at the heart of Legendary, it's really only a challenge to a degree. When you think about the fact that you have an infinite number of tries to get each individual segment right, it becomes far less horrific. Basically, you know from the get go that you WILL eventually beat the game.

Mythic is different. It's about survival. Sure, you may fight some battles and skip others, but no matter what you do, you aren't guaranteed to make it to the finish line. All of a sudden, the game takes on an entirely different malformation. For me personally, the challenge simply lies in trying to make it to the finish line alive. And the adrenaline rush you get from making it there? Unimaginable to those who haven't tried it.

I hope you will try it too :-)

FYI, If you're going to watch the film, I turned into a chicken-sh** during the last bit, hense why it too so long to get through it.

Nice job! Both on the level and that poetic monolougue. I think I'm tearing up :) That adrenaline rush is something to experience at the end of the level. However, it can also make you screw up. You also forgot to mention that feeling of crushing defeat when you die on the last wave on Sierra 117, The Ark, Coastal Highway, and the Pillar of Autumn (which I think anyone has yet to experience.)

Speaking of which, it's just until now that I thought the Halo: Reach campaign was impossible. I thought we'd breeze through all the levels, then get stuck on the Pillar. There's barely any ammo at the end, only a crate with two pistols. After that, a few generals with plasma launchers with no allied support.

But earlier, I was looking through the most downloaded files (it's late and I'm tired, sue me) and I came across one video. It was titled "This is how everyone is going to do it from now on." I was expecting an amazing shortcut which would make the level as easy as Winter Contingency. While it didn't have that, it had the next best thing.

In the pistol room when you hold off against the Covenant at the end, there's a DMR crate glitched into the opposite wall. You can knock it out with a few melees. It has, like, six DMRs and because they're in a crate, they're all exempt from Famine. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there aren't any elites in that firefight part. So those DMRs are pretty much the only things you have to use, except for the hammer chieftan.

Guys, this is TOTALLY POSSIBLE.

Also, you guys probably already know this, but all the battles in Nightfall are skippable except for the last two. The level is not hard. The only tricky part are those turrets and Rangers at the end.

Actually, I reached the end of "package" twice today and died before finally completing it successfully.

It gets better.

The first time I died, I had reached last wave of enemies. I was taunting the sword General to come get me. I had a full DMR and plenty of ammo in my plasma rifle. He charged. I poured on the plasma. His shield flickered a few times but didn't die. His pace was too quick, and he cut me down to size, ending my reign. I had COMPLETELY forgotten about my jet pack. Just for kicks, I loaded from the previous check point and decided to see what would happen had I used it. He retreated! I finally managed to get his shield when he came at me again, and ended him with a headshot.

Halsey gave the signal to enter and end the mission...

Two hours later, I had the mission conquered. The other one looked cooler, but failed none the less. At least it's done which brings our community that much closer to the finish line.

Speaking of which, excellent advice on PoA! Thanks for sharing with us! I think this was the battle most of us were fearing. We've totally got this :-)

DMRs or not on PoA I'm currently more interested in finding a safe location to bottleneck the Covenant in rather than have them come from every direction.
I wonder if we can do some magic with a crate or two?

Rocking Bungie.net for over 8 years!

Just getting to the final fight on PoA will be a struggle in itself. You've got 3 ultras and a couple of hunters supported by skirmishers immediately before. That you HAVE to kill. It's still not gonna be easy.

Ugh, I keep getting stupid deaths on Exodus. It should be so simple... Last time, I fell while trying to collect some more ammo around the landing pad and damaged my shields, meaning the banshees tore me up. Oh, and btw, those Falcon pilots are USELESS. Oh yes, lets just fly straight through the swarm of banshees! No thought for maybe, I dunno, EVADING THEM!

*sigh*

I don't understand all the sniping in this thread. I suppose it is pettiness and jealosy by those who cannot do what you do.

In my view, it is an honor and a privelege to read this thread...i was very late to gaming and simply do not have the skill that many of you Mythic Conquerors have. Hats off to you.

I enjoy reading the thread and learn much from it. I enjoy high score campaign runs and will use many of the tips and tricks here for that purpose. Keep up the good work.

PS: Good luck with the final sections of PoA...was, by far the hardest thing I have ever done in Halo. Even on just legendary solo, no skulls on, I had to repeatedly kill one enemy, return to the storeroom and drop shield myself back to full health, and wait for a checkpoint. Can't imagine the challenge of doing it SLASO after playing for 3 or 4 hours. Good luck to you!
