Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

I also agree with RC. In Halo 3 and ODST, we were at an advantage in that scoring alone could validate the run. This was back when save & quit would shut off scoring. Now, however, because of the way they f***ed up the stats system, that method no longer applies to Reach.

People get on the list one of two ways. Either their runs are validated by me, or they are validated by another conqueror. This is the system I have been using since Halo 3.

I suppose if someone really comes into question, I can check with the big cheeses themselves as they seem to know for sure. But does this sound like a fair system?

Let me just say LASO is a -blam!- version of Mythic.

Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

We've got a 5/13 mythic challenge today, tip of the spear is always fun.

Also, anyone else up for Odst campaign vidmaster we need one more.

As for the video confirmation it's probably a good idea to require it but I feel like it would be really sad to cheat to get on a list that doesn't get you anything. Has anyone actually watched any of my runs? I think i checked and they had no downloads (I'm on my phone now so it's kind of awkward to look).

Films are the proof that you did it. A lot of us won't bother watching an entire film if we can see that you begin from Mission Start and the Game Stats says that you took two hours to complete the level. Someone suggested that the game stats along with a screenshot of the beginning of the level should suffice, but there's a lot of issues with that (e.g. maybe they found a place that looks like the beginning of the level, but isn't.) It's just a lot easier to have a film. You probably could spend hours typing an essay to prove that you completed LNOS in half an hour without killing a banshee and you probably would be right if you had enough evidence. It's just easier to have a film.

The Mythic community uses Occam's Razor in regards to selecting our list requirements.

This is not about Mythic, therefore it's off-topic and has been reported.

Lol, just kidding.

As far as the SMRC, I meant by my response that all those who had completed the mythic campaign FOR THE SMRC (I.E. those who had completed all of the missions during their respective week-long challenges) received recon. I know I was one of them.

Sorry General, I'm still skeptical. During the SMRC, there was a recon raffle for every single one of the nine missions completed during the challenge and sent in properly. After that, Bungie said that there would be a tenth raffle for everyone who had completed every single level during the challenge.

The quote I posted earlier says that for the SMRC conquerors, there would be a final raffle for the final recon suit. It sounded like there were ten and only ten suits of recon armor to win from the challenge.

So, I guess my question is this: Are you absolutely positive that you weren't the lucky one to win the tenth raffle; that instead, everyone in your position got it?

If anyone else claims to have gotten recon because they completed the entire SMRC, like General; are you absolutely positive you didn't win because of one of the earlier missions?

Sorry about talking about the fine points in the challenge; I'm still mad about not completing Sierra in time, lol.

I'm sure. I would dig up the old SMRC thread but I don't have it saved any more. Indeed, it could very well have been deleted/ceased to exist at this point.

They were originally going to do a tenth raffle, but they decided to give it to all those who qualified for the tenth raffle instead. It was a nice surprise, to be sure.

Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

I just died in a pretty ridiculous way on TotS, I was in the falcon shooting at the enemies on the canyon below and an elite fires a concussion rifle shot at me and the shot hits one of the grenades I'm firing, deflects it back at me and blows me up.

Soooo...I got to the end of ONI and died by a random freaking plasma grenade. An hour and a half of my life down the toilet.

Why did it take that long to get there, you ask? Because I am terrible at killing Elites with the Wraith. They always seem to dodge too well and then when I do get their shields low they just run off and recharge.

Any tips on clearing them out faster or aiming better with the Wraith? If it wasn't for those stupid concussion Rangers at the AA gun I would have been done a long time ago with this mission.

I once got stuck by the very last invisible elite on ONI, and the worst part was I actually had armor lock at the point and forgot I had it so I died for no reason. My ONI run is over an hour long I think because killing elites from a distance can be an arduous task and its better to be safe than sorry

LOL I hit the X button to try and use the health pack and instead it made me pick up the rocket and I was going so fast I didn't notice. I then hit shoot thinking I was still holding the plasma pistol.

I don't understand why you even shot once... You had full shields from the wraith, and if you can't pick up the health pack then you're at full health as well.

Because I'm new at this and don't know how to tell if I'm at full shields or health... I'm not a pro like some of you. ;) Forgot about the shield restore from melee.

This is probably common knowledge, but I'll share it anyway.

If you want to tell whether save & quit will work for a challenge, just push pause and go to challenges. Challenges that are currently obtainable will be bold. This is helpful since I found out that during the Tip of the Spear challenge, not only could you save and quit, you could revert to last checkpoint manually and still get it.

Better safe than sorry, especially on Mythic. That health pack respawns sometimes, by the way.

Haha I noticed myself and RC on that list too. Mythic rocks the leaderboardz!

Thanks to this thread I was able to knockout yesterday's daily TOTS challenge. The only thing I couldn't do was get the Elite at the top of the Spire to commit suicide. He would either kill me or just keep running back inside. Looks like another easier daily challenge with the same requirements only on Winter Contigency this time.

What's this about a TOTS challenge I keep hearing about? Is it basically a weekly LASO challenge, but now they've started making it a daily challenge?

Yesterday they did "L. D. Spear" complete tip of the spear on legendary without dying with the tilt, thunderstorm, mythic, and tough luck on.

Today was "L. D. Winter" same thing but winter contingency. No Idea what L. D. stands for but they were a good couple of challenges, worth 5000 each, and since you can't die you might as well turn on the iron skull and since grunt birthday party and IWHBYD basically don't affect gameplay you might as well turn them on too, so we got a 7/13 mythic challenge 2 days in a row!

Doing the LASO challenges really makes you overprepared for these daily challenges because basically you're fighting the same enemies you would in LASO except you don't have blind, famine, and black eye getting in the way. Cloud, tough luck and the others never really get in the way of completing the stage. There is a work-around for the challenge for completing without dying (revert to last save works) which can work for the iron skull but it just adds more time to complete the stage. I'm under no illusions about being able to complete any of these stages under the true "mythic" standards. As much as I try to imitate the videos, something always goes different than what I saw.

I think if you had no problem with these challenges, you may be ready for Mythic. All the enemy hitpoint modifiers are on, so enemies are just as tenacious on "L.D difficulty" as they are on Mythic. Before jumping right into Mythic, turn on the Catch skull. Then turn on Famine. Then Black Eye. Then Blind and then finally, Iron. This is the best way I think to ease yourself into Mythic after L.D.

With the Iron skull, there's no "revert to last checkpoint" option.
