I also agree with RC. In Halo 3 and ODST, we were at an advantage in that scoring alone could validate the run. This was back when save & quit would shut off scoring. Now, however, because of the way they f***ed up the stats system, that method no longer applies to Reach.
People get on the list one of two ways. Either their runs are validated by me, or they are validated by another conqueror. This is the system I have been using since Halo 3.
I suppose if someone really comes into question, I can check with the big cheeses themselves as they seem to know for sure. But does this sound like a fair system?
Ok but, this discussion came up because people were posting stats links to some of Pahat's games. He didn't come here and say 'these are my mythic completions', other people dug them up and since they look more or less mythic, thought they they definitely were.
But stats aren't conclusive (as discussed), and we don't even have Pahat's word that (these particular games) are legit, let alone an attached film which would say it for definite.
I agree with all of the points made so far from both sides. However, if I see game stat links to all levels completed with all skulls on, I will assume that the games were done legit with or without video proof. It's not foolproof, but the stats can tell you 99% of the time if it was legit or not.
What if you ask for videos and they didn't save the games? Will you tell the world that they didn't complete Mythic because they forgot to save one, two, or all of their films? What about when Dark didn't save Coastal, does that mean he didn't do it?
And RC, this is Pahat we are talking about. Not some random who is trying to up his popularity or w/e. I'm sure he beat them all legit. He also doesn't care whether he is on the list or not, so if you don't want him on the list, don't worry about it.
In the case of a contest or prizes, you can request videos to be put in file shares when the missions are completed at that time. But for the purposes of the Conqueror list, I think game stats still suffice.
