Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

Posted by: MegaMuffin16
Tyrant, I'm on Tip of the Spear and I have the game paused. Me and Jor-hay are on the ground and the Falcon just went down. Anything I should be wary of before I tackle the Spire?

I would recommend watching his video tutorials on halo.bungie.org

I have had luck though grabbing a banshee that swooped down too low and flying to the top of the spire. Baiting the elite off the edge can be a little tricky and I've actually fallen down with him, but luckily I had a jetpack so i lived. If you can't get that to work the final elite can be peppered and taken out (watched RC master's speed run where he made this look like cake). Gotta always be aware of the fuel rod guys though cause they will take you out.

Wow, thanks Tyrant. I just did Tip of the Spear on my own, and it was the easiest one yet (if you don't count Nightfall), all thanks to your tips (and the guy who discovered the mining facility shortcut). I must admit it was the LASO "light" version, so without Blind on. I didn't have much time tonight, so I just did for the weekly challenge. With blind on it's definitely doable.

I also hijacked the banshee and for the fun of it I destroyed all enemies around the spire. At the top it was easy because I had enough ammo to headshot all the grunts, and for some weird reason the Elite was standing with his back to me, so I assassinated him. Lucky me.

thanks again

weird, I'll have to try this next time. I watched your speed run and took out the Hunters with it the way you did.

I still hate the falcon flight, I feel like its such a crap shoot to whether or not you'll die. Also, I really hate how at the end they just fly through and say F the non-spartans on board. I don't understand the shield around the spire, you can fly through it (sort of). So why couldn't they just land on the outside and walk through without just murdering their marine buddies.

Anyone know which video has the way to get both wraiths to fall off the edge? Tyrant's?

At least I believe it was saying how to get both wraiths to fall off :S

It IS tyrant's video. The thing I had trouble with was the elite at the end. 2nd time through I got him with a grenade. Blew him off the cliff. Best way I found was to go up very top and assassinate him.

Thanks again to Tyrant's video, this weekly has been knocked out. Here's my adventure.

So my first run through the weekly, things are going perfect. Made it pretty much to the second covenant giant turret unscathed. Even splattered the elite right before the second turrent my first attempt at it.

I've taken out the second covenant turret, the wraith just disappeared (woohoo!!) and I'm working on the hunters. I noticed my helicopter ride is in a slightly different location than normal and the enemies are no longer attacking it. I didn't pay much attention to that and just used what seemed like a 1000 rounds from the revenant to destroy both hunters. There was also an elite chilling in the background just kind of hanging out as well but I said screw it, enough of the ground forces have been taken out and the elite's far away enough for me to take off safely.

I get to the chopper and I apparently need to flip it over. I jump into a turret and the helicopter never takes off. The elite in the background now comes running up to me and I blast at him but the damage hurts me as well and the chopper still isn't taking off!!! The elite is also not attacking but just standing right in front of my turret talking. I try to jump off but it won't let me and the background chatter continues like the game is making forward progress but we're just sitting on the ground.

So after realizing that the game is jacked up, I save and quit and restart from the last checkpoint. There's only one hunter which isn't too bad but I decide to investigate my helcopter as it's still in the same state as before. All I can ascertain at this point is that when the chopper got flipped over by all the covenant attacking it, the pilot automatically exited and got waxed instantly by the covenant. No matter what I do at this point, the next part of the game will never start because there's no pilot to fly the chopper. And it will not let me pilot it as well.

So I'm totally screwed and I have to restart the whole stage all over again. My second run through was not that great. I barely make it out alive from the initial battle of the stage. When I get to the second covenant turret, the wraith did not disappear magically like last time so I have to spend about a 1000 revenant bombs trying to take it out, then spend another 1000 rounds on the hunters and ground forces.

Things are looking on the up and up because my chopper is in working order, I have nearly 100% shields and life and all enemy ground forces are gone. Or so I thought. I'm trying to decide which weapon to replace my spent plasma cannon and this little f-ing jackal apparently was trapped between the destroyed wraith wreckage and a rock shoots a plasma blast at me and wipes out all my shields!!! So now I have to start the next flying scene with no shields!!!! And let me tell you that was a pain. I must've died about 10 times between the elites on the ground and the turrets blasting the crap out of my helicopter.

Needless to say, after much perserverance, I finally make it through the flying part and am greeted at the next checkpoint with a much needed health pack. Only to realize that I didn't even need to waste any time trying to find a weapon to replace my spent plasma cannon because the next checkpoint loads you up with a DMR and AR automatically once you finish the crash landing cut scene.

I'm glad this sucker is done but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. One modification to the video I would highly recommend is since you can deal with the final elite one on one, use the plasma gun to just pepper his shields away as you draw him out. Use your jet pack to keep your distance if necessary, but it was much easier than trying to get him to commit suicide. And for some reason, the route that I take to deal with the second covenant cannon only causes one wraith to appear instead of two.

You can bress "back" on your controller to see what weapon you are holding if you forgot. It also tells you what Armor ability you have.

Take the seat on the right. Try it a few times, and as soon as you see any enemy, shoot like hell. Prioritise shade turrets, then concussion rifle elites, then wraiths, then all other enemies.

I am liking the idea of taking down the second gun with the warthog.

Did a run sans blind today and it went rather well, until I died on the last fuel rod grunt, ugh - couldn't fight the temptation to save/quit to finish it, such a shame it was a decent run up until then. It certainly got me in the mood to try and improve my original Mythic run of the level (much more appealing than attempting any of my remaining levels: LNOS, Exodus, NA and POA, heh).

My one trouble spot is still those wraiths at the 2nd gun, even when following the tips to get rid of them. It seems the wraith off to the right is sometimes constantly shelling the, well, nothing, right from the start, and then when I try the trick it just doesn't budge. Should that affect it or am I just probably doing it wrong?

Since I tried out the warthog to destroy the gun on this attempt, I assume that threw the technique out the window, or should it still be possible? I couldn't get either of them to go, until I (with some effort) went back up to the upper level and grabbed the revenant that I had foolishly left up there (almost) out of reach, then tried it again and again with that.

Assuming you've got the jetback, it's better to retake your banshee. The Elite often falls to his death and you get shields back for the hijack.
