Keep on posting.

Many thanks!

Had me worried for a second. What happened, if you don't mind me asking?

Dark told me about the lock this morning and we were a bit worried! I've seen threads get locked and unlocked before though, not sure why it happens.

Wraith pissing me off so much, always throwing itself off the cliff!

What I found was, that if you used the Chain-gun hog to destroy the gun, the Wraiths would get frozen in their pre-scripted attacks, shooting at the wall. At least until you attacked them. I exploited this for a reasonably simple hijack, and then proceeded to kill the second Wraith and Hunters with it, with a little clean-up from my Needle Rifle.

Swings and round-abouts though; I think THE fastest way will be to hope the Wraith doesn't spawn, take out the gun from the side with the Rev, kill the Wraith with the rev, needle rifle all the infantry, and then push the Hunters off the cliff with the revenant's boost!

I'll come back to that in a few months....

I bet you also get comments like, "ummm u dont actualy hav 2 do it in 1 run...u can save"

Well people do keep mentioning that but I think (hope?) its mostly directed at other commentors.

I'm thinking about telling Louis Wu about my Exodus run. RC Master, you said the record was twenty-six minutes? In that case, I'm the world record holder for time on Exodus.
I don't know if he'll front-page just a saved film. You can either render it/ask someone else to, and then tell him, or you can submit it to HSH and we'll get around to it at some point (still recovering from the hacker, also installing forums since HighImpactHalo (where HSH has its own sub-forum) is going into cryo).

Never mind, it's probably too late now and you'll probably best my run within the next five minutes.
I haven't even managed to improve my PoA time yet!

Well while I was doing a practice run on Legendary (I'm not doing Mythic until I am perfect at Legendary), the Wraiths decided to go ahead and drive themselves off a cliff. Well one of them did. But remember, I'm the one who figured out that it was faster to use that LAAG Hog while you guys just lobbed mortars at it.

That sounds like a good idea. The High Speed Halo page is still really clunky to navigate; they haven't yet set up the banner that displays the fastest times on all the difficulties through all the games.

I know my run will get beaten really quickly, but still; it would be nice to have it there for even just a little bit. I think people will be impressed how I do things from Rally Point Bravo.

OK somethings been bothering me:

I keep hearing people pronounce 'laso' as 'lah-so' i.e. as in 'lasso' but I've always pronounced in 'Lay-zo' as in 'laser' but with an 'o' instead of 'er.'

Personally, I think 'slay-zo' sounds cooler than 'slah-so'

How do other people pronounce it?

Thanks to this guide and save and quit (lulz) I was able to complete this weeks challenge. Wasn't too bad if you followed almost everything he did in the video. The most difficult part for me was inside the falcon on the gun because you really have no control over avoiding being shot so that took me a few tries.

The for the actual spire I was able to get past most of the enemies at the start and just my luck a banshee got stuck near the pipes near the bottom so I jacked it and flew up. I landed it near the entrance to the switch, popped a few grunts and then the ultra came running after me. I ran back to the banshee and somehow by luck as he was attempting to jack it from me he ended up just flying off lol. Landed again, took out the remaining grunts then ran to the switch...which actually wasn't ready to be pressed yet and was almost killed by a grunt with an FRG but I finally managed to get it.

All in all it could of been worth more Cr but whatever...I was bored and had some time on my hands. Took me a long ass time though lol. Thanks for the guide!

I've always said it with the "a" sound like it is in apple.

Me too, but when dealing with the uneducated I say "slah-so".

Finished the Fight!

Maybe Bungie should adopt the "Mythic" name for the challenges; they are not technically "LASO" since (bless them) they vetoed the gods damn Blind Skull.

They'd have to add a lot more requirements to the challenge: Scoring on, no deaths, no save and quit. I'm not sure they can even do that.

Sla-sso, the "a" sounds like the a in "bat".

Lay-zo does sound cooler, but I think there needs to be more emphasis on the "sso" since there are two of the letter s.

If the challenges are hard-coded into the game, then yeah.

Otherwise, it would be really easy. Make the Iron skull a requirement, which takes away the "revert to last checkpoint" option. A few days back, there was a challenge that would fail if you died, but that was easily circumvented by revert to last checkpoint and save & quit.

Yesterday, there was a challenge that required you to get a certain amount of points in a mission. Tyrant said that if you save & quit, scoring stops. If that is true, Bungie could just set the point requirement to something trivial, for the purpose of not letting people save and quit. The description could look something like this:

LONG NIGHT OF MYTHIC: 100,000 cR

Complete 'Long Night of Solace' on Legendary, with all skulls on with out dying, with at least one point. Have fun.

This is only true for Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST. In Reach, this doesn't apply.

So on Tip of the Spear Ive run into the following problem a few times. After the Pelican comes in and you've managed to kill everything else that is there I hop in the Pelican only to find out that the pilot decided to get out and run for it and he obviously dies. Anyone else run into this?

It doesnt happen very often, but its frustrating as all hell to almost be done with the mission and having to restart from the beginning because the pilot wanted to make a run for it.

When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

I pronounce it "Lay-Zo minus Blind."

  • 03.23.2011 3:57 PM PDT

The problem with that specific idea is that the final checkpoint has about 15 enemies you have to kill. So when you get to the final check point, you'll always have earned at least one point for killing all those elites.

After watching the video, the hardest part of LNOS will be the flying part of the stage. It's so easy to get killed and you never know from what direction you'll get attacked.

The Corvette is far more difficult. In space, all you really have to do is hide behind Anchor Nine and the Savannah.

Are you talking about the Falcon at the second AA gun? If so, the pilot isn't hopping out. There is an elite there that will hijack the falcon. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it blocks your ability to advance and you have to restart. Just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get close enough to the falcon and you should be fine.

If this is happening regularly for you, take out all the enemies you can see first (minus the hunters since they'll be inside the gun) then kill the gun, and then the hunters and dropped off Grunts. That should keep you safe.

  • 03.23.2011 4:33 PM PDT

When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

I emulated your 11-minute run, RC. But both of the wraiths ended up throwing themselves off the cliff and I had to improvise... Still, a 20-minute film is much better than the 51-minute behemoth I had before!

  • 03.23.2011 5:07 PM PDT

In attempting to complete the weekly LASO challenge, I randomly decided to do a Mythic run. And you know what? I did.

It was rather frustrating, but fulfilling unto itself. I now find every Covenant troop just as frustrating as the last (for different reasons). I am also very sad that I allowed myself to get armor lock'd trying to splatter that first Elite head on after jumping in the Revenant. After taking him out the first time, I guess I just got a taste for splattering him.

One thing of note:

Does destroying the fuel rod shades at the beginning signal the arrival of the pelican, or is it something else? I've had one shade operational and the pelican'll drop the 'hog, and I've had everything except the Elite dead and the pelican'll strafe in the air like there's some massive hazard still present, and a bunch of variants in-between. Did I just need to move up a little bit further or something?
