Back in my day we didn't have no fancy-schmancy pelican turret glitches!

Yeah well back in my day we had sticks! Two sticks, and a rock for the whole platoon - and we had to share the rock!

The entire platoon was just two guys?

;)

A platoon is usually 26-55 people.
:P

And yes I'm with General Khazard here, those 4 Elites were evil without the Pelican Trick. Nearly made me break at one point (heh, breakpoint), wasted nearly three hours to be killed by the last one.

Yeah, back then they were indeed the Four Ultra's of the Apocalypse. The only way to kill the bastards was to more or less ninja them one by one. I think I took around 30 minutes doing that on my first successful try. God that was intense. Adrenaline rush or not, I never want to do it that way again.

I actually found a tactic to get one to charge me 100% of the time. Use the Plasma Launcher to stick one, he'd rage and charge me full speed. Bubble Shield, and get him inside and melee fight him untill his shields went down then headshot kill.

That was one of the four down anyway, left me to wait for the good opportunity to beat down the remaining three.

Edit: Oh, and I can say; the adrenaline while in the melee fight was so intense. I had to put the controller down for a while after I did it, my hands were shaking.

Hmm... this is interesting. I recieved that information from MetaHalo.com's Weekly Challenge Leaderboard and for some reason you're no on there. That is strange... I guess the site does not collect data from non-registered players.

You can make it register a player though. Just lookup their stats ("add gamertag" button on the top left) and the site will automatically track them from then on. In this case I've just added Leumas to see if he did actually complete all weeklies, which he has, bringing the total up to 6 people.

Cool site, too bad it only tracks gamertags that have been searched. I wonder how many people have actually completed all weekly challenges

Wow, That must take ages to get that, What about the wraith one on LNoS? Isn't that faster?

  • 03.28.2011 3:13 PM PDT

Those sites are great but they only track people who are part of the site. Halocharts.com is another big site. So even though it may say six, there could be hundreds that have completed all the weekly challenges. I know I've completed all of them except a few in the beginning when the game first came out. I just didn't know how to do any challenges. The Laso challenges would've been the first if it weren't for this thread. This weekly may be the first in a long time because my house is packed up for my move to dc from Hawaii. But I'm on track so far with all 4 daily challenges done with no issue today. As long as they don't throw in too many rampage challenges I should be okay. I'm hoping for some 5k campaign challenges because my next promotion is too far away.

That's pretty crazy, too bad emile couldn't be as effective at shooting down those phantoms during the waves. As someone else said, have you tried it on LNoS with the wraith and the endless enemies?

The only thing with LNoS is that you might blow up, On PoA you have 100% chance of doing but you have gotta have a lot of time on your hands to do it.

Not Mythic related, but still, very cool! My favorite part was "acquire mass driver from Emile" :) Does he die if you kick him out before the cutscene? SPOILER

Cool from a conceptual standpoint, anyway. You spent three hours sitting in the mass driver; how is that fun? Is it really worth the medal? POA is also one of my favorite levels; I think if I went for it, it might ruin it for me.

Are you the first person ever to get it?

I haven't. Thats on the list of 'crazy -blam!- to do in Reach'. Not got to it yet :P

Its sort of side-ways mythic related; You can use the trick jump to make waves 2 and 3 easier and shorter on Mythic. Legendary Smile did that in his co-op run. And I'm hoping to replicate the same in solo at some point.

My favorite part was "acquire mass driver from Emile" :) Does he die if you kick him out before the cutscene? SPOILERYes, the cutscene happens the same way :P

You spent three hours sitting in the mass driver; how is that fun? Is it really worth the medal? I was doing it one handed for a lot of the time! Changed my control scheme so I could aim and fire with just my left hand. I was doing other things, browsing the 'net, doing some thinking, listening to music.

It wasn't just for the medal either: it was for the points. High Score! It'll be posted on HSH at some point.

Are you the first person ever to get it?The medal itself? Don't think so. On Legendary? Can't be sure. I'm the only one I know of!

So on New Alexandria do the shade turrets that are on top of buildings spawn randomly or are they always in the same place?

Also what way is better to do New Alexandria RC Masters speed run or Tyrants Mythic guide?

  • 03.28.2011 10:14 PM PDT

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

I personally find that Tyrants Mythic guide is more useful than the speed runs. Tyrant explains it all so us mere mortals can complete the levels, whereas RC Master blasts through it, without taking any precautions really.

So both could work, but Tyrants is more conserved. If you want to try and do it quick, but have a lot of tries at it, follow RC Masters path, but if you want to get it done (relatively) safely, go with Tyrants guides.

First time? Go with Tyrant's guide.

I'd definitely reccomend doing the Easter Egg switches to get rid of the hunters and enemies outside Club Errera. Rushing straight in the middle takes some practice. Also you can TRY the Banshee Skip for the hospital but if its your last objective don't try it cus it won't work. And be SURE to get out of the banshee before the level deloads!

So recently I've been having fun playing through Tip of the Spear on Easy to see just how fast I can blast through it. My fastest time has been 7:28. I have found a new trick that I'm going to try on Mythic and see how it works out. If it does, it should really help out a few people.

I'll probably try some of Reach on SLASO soon, considering I have spring break now. I remember having so much fun playing H3 on Mythic. Those Stupid shields not draining away with one pp shot really threw me off the first time however lol.

Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

RC, I'm curious, on your practice speed runs of LNoS do you still take rockets with you? Last night I did a 12 skull run to see how tough it would be with a PP and DMR and even though I did die several times it seems doable. Collecting rockets is so tedious and can take awhile if you are unlucky with pelican drops so this could be a viable substitute for speed. But I guess it comes down to if its quicker to kill with a PP + DMR vs rockets and if that time overshadows the time it takes to collect the rockets.

  • 03.29.2011 10:33 AM PDT

Dunno if this is the right place to post this idea, but since it is based on the idea of a Mythic run (plus a bunch of you guys seem crazy/good) I thought I'd drop it here. First, a question:

What's the purpose of having scoring on for a given Mythic run, again? Points, yo?

This probably sounds suicidal, but what if one were to complete the entire campaign on Mythic sans scoring? Does anyone think that could possibly trigger something? Has this been a thing Mythic conquerors (Mythicisers)(Mythic runners?) have considered, now or in the past?

I took just two rockets. From the troopers that are your way into the base. And the sword. The sword is awesome.

I use a mix of Tyrant's Rocketing and my own Sword strategy. Its reasonably quick. I suppose a PP + DMR might end up being slightly faster, but I've never had much success with it, and the mission is already 40 minutes so another 30 seconds is neither here nor there TBH.

Speaking of speedruns, I tried the banshee method; that's how I'll beat the hospital from now on. It's too cool. :)

I can't seem to get a banshee to fall on the roof after plasma pistoling it; for me, jacking it from the sky was easier.

While it doesn't affect the difficulty, scoring helps you prove that you did it. Why not put in on? If the legitimacy of your run is ever called into question, it will help the person verifying it if you put scoring on since they can look at what your multipliers. The gold skulls are the ones that kick you in the ass; cowbell and grunt birthday are almost incidental, blind you can tell by the video. On top of that, we have gamestats. I guess we require scoring because more information about your run=good. To tell you the truth, I don't know the exact reason; Tyrant would probably know better.

There is no Mythic ending we know of, but I remember our first conqueror said he's was going to try beating POA without scoring to see if there was an ending; we haven't heard back.
