I tried getting full rockets. You failed to mention that the dropships drop 3 elites each time! So here i am, my marines all dead, i run out to pick up the rockets, and i get attacked by about 8 elites from 3 angles. Had to take the drop shield to protect myself, then i picked up sprint again and my drop shield despawned!
Good times.
I think it's safe to say getting all those rockets is definitely one of the most dangerous aspects of the first part of the mission. But I decided to only take six with me since that seemed to be more than enough.
I think I found an easier way to get enough rockets: Right after you clear the beach and you're prompted to enter the base, the first Pelican will arrive and there will be little to no Covie attackers. As soon as the soldiers drop, I threw two plasma grenades in their midst. If you're lucky, there will be two rocket marines that will, ahem, sacrifice their rockets to you. Scramble to get 'em and that should net you (again, if you're lucky) at least three rounds. Scramble to the front door where there's a rack of DMR's and drop your rockets there. When you enter the base and the rest of Noble starts moving inside, another rocket marine will run up to you. Quickly trade weapons with him. There will be another rocket marine on the semi open area where you'd otherwise be shelled by the wraith. Toss a frag grenade at him to, er, relieve him of his weapon. Now go back to the front door and recover the rockets you dropped there (unless they despawned, in which case, you'll have no choice but to gnash your teeth, grumble and do things the hard way). That way you should have at least five or six rockets without having to risk a mad dash blowing up your troops and getting their ammo.
