LNoS weekly people. Payout's not worth the effort though.

Either Bungie just do not get it or their challenge system is more limited than I thought.

I've done it, but I absued the heck out of save+quit, and only played because I knew I could do it in around an hour. Its really not worth it otherwise.

Ugh, I mean, a few months ago, before these LASO challenges started cropping up, I asked people how much it would be worth to them. People were talking in terms of 20k MINIMUM. Quoting values like 50k or 75k for LNoS or PoA. And Bungie gives us 14k for it?

WTF is up with that?

I mean, remember ye olde anecdote about how it took some Bungie guys 5 hours to do winter friggin contingency on LASO just before launch? In co-op! How is THAT worth 14,000 credits? Let alone Long Night of Solace!

I'd reeeealy love to hear the justification for the low campaign credits, across the board, including the ridiculous amount for LASO challenges.

Saw your film the other night, RC, and that was some the most insane campaign stuff I've ever seen. My jaw dropped when you used the conc rifle to blast yourself up to the MAC gun! I thought for sure that would've been instant death!

With Tilt OFF, it is. Never try it without tilt.

My hat's off to you dude you certainly put out a great show.
Thanks.
(or dudette, since you seemed to fashion the female N6),
The female six is a style thing. Its slimmer and thats the overall look I'm going for: sleek and stealthy. Its sort of a reaction against all these ridiculously oversized armour pieces.

And yeah, it definitely takes brass ones to whack all them Zealots. :OIt was the opposite: I didn't have the guts to try the mass driver with them alive!

If RC was a chick I think we'd all be inviting him to play with us...all the time.

How do you know the 'R' in 'RC' doesn't stand for Rachael?

;)

Plus there'd be no point in you inviting me since you're on the other side of the planet!

It's been rendering for about half an hour now. I wonder what's wrong.

That is a much easier way to do it. I wouldn't dare attempt Tyrant's long-ass jump on Mythic.

Its not I'm doing for my Exodus speedrun though. Well, the one I have planned (froodlenutzkieging things keep going wrong). I prefer to take out the Grunts and Jackals all in one group when they spawn, with the rocket launcher. They're a bit of a pain to take out otherwise. And I get up there with a Grenade assisted Jetpack jump! Dark will know what I'm talking about cus I knicked the idea from his Easy run of Exodus.

You could do that when going up to assassinate the chieftain come to think of it...

14,000 cR for LNoS. What a joke.

It isn't a joke, its disgusting. The freaking thing is a pain on default Legendary. Ah well, might as well just do it so the toughest Mythic level is done. I'll get to it on Saturday I guess.

It should at a minimum be 24,500.

Yeah, my heart sank when I saw "14,000". WTF Bungie, seriously. Yeah, we can save/quit throughout the week...but the pain and aggravation inside the Corvette is worth 1,000,000 creds alone!

In doing the daily today I decided to go full mythic. I also shaved a good chunk of time off of my previous run.

TotS in 18 minutes

Not really a speed run, but good enough considering both wraiths threw themselves off the cliff leaving me with the revenant and chain hog to deal with the hunters and other enemies (plasma launchers and DMR helped quite a bit too).

You can despawn the wraiths by driving down from that cliff, taking out the 3 jackals, then destroying the tyrant gun, then moving left around the rock until you see a slight pause, then move right around the other side of the rock, and it will despawn the wraiths. Then all you have to worry about is the 2 hunters, 1 elite, and some extra baddies.

Yeah, the problem is that I don't want the wraith on the right to disappear. I want it to get stuck attacking the wall like it used to do all the time for me so I can go and jack it. Problem is, it always commits suicide with that cliff, and then I have to loop around and hope the left wraith does the same (no way I can jack that one and survive...)

Thanks, that suicidal wraith just irritates the crap out of me... I'm glad I tried using the chain hog on the hunters though, went a hell of a lot faster than the revenant would have!

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

I agree, and I even brought this to their attention a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not sure what the deal is here. LNoS is easily the toughest of the nine and should be worth a MINIMUM of 25k cR even with Iron and Blind being void at this point.

I can't believe how little of credits this weekly is. For being one of the two hardest missions, you'd think it would atleast break the 15K mark.

Agreed, but I'm still going to do the challenge. 14,000 cR is a lot of cR.

I think it's safe to say getting all those rockets is definitely one of the most dangerous aspects of the first part of the mission. But I decided to only take six with me since that seemed to be more than enough.

That's why my weapon of choice for the corvette remains the Famine-induced plasma pistol.

Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

Can anyone remember which weekly challenges had the highest payout? Last weeks was 18000 and for some reason I feel like that was the most ever.

I vaguely remember earning 24000 credits one day when I completed a weekly but I think it was so high because I did several daily challenges at the same time.

Its sort of sad when you think about it, you can play 3 games of rocket fight in firefight arcade and basically get 14,000 cr. That will take about 20-30 minutes depending on the proficiency of the player. LNoS took me nearly 2 hours to complete the first time through on Mythic and thats not even counting the countless hours of failed attempts to get there.

By this logic Bungie thinks Rocketfight is more challenging than LNoS.

@Michael - that's a sweet new route, I'll definitely try that one once Exodus comes around

RC, do you think the concussion rifle jump up to the mass driver is a viable strategy for Mythic?

For first timers? Probably not. Ammo gets a little tight if you fail (and fail you will).

For people looking to improve their time? Go for it! I do it in that 28 minute run ya know.

Are you are sadist?

No. Its just, all the pain and suffering that we went through on that level, is going to be reflected right back by big portions of the community. Its like, laughing at a former version of yourself; how ill educated we were, how inexpereinced we were.

Actually they'll have an advantage. People like me have done their research and found this thread and downloaded the videos from the first page.

SOME people have. Many people haven't. I'll be lolling at the misadventures of those who haven't.

And maybe those who have, since they'll still randomy combust in space or fly into a piece of debris. And I'll be like 'LOL! I've done that before!'

Those movies typically don't have all the shortcuts people find 3 or 4 days into the week.
The Tyrant videos? Well yeah, cus he constructs his own route that he finds best. I don't actually recall new things being discovered in any of the weeks so far.

I remember doing the 5k TOTS challenge before the weekly came out as practice for LASO TOTS. I followed the original video and was completely prepared for LASO TOTS. The only modification I really made was I just peppered the final Elite since he was the only one and for the life of me I couldn't get the Elite to commit suicide. So I completed TOTS LASO on Monday with little to no trouble. By Wednesday and Thursday I saw and read about using the chain gun warthog to destroy the second turret and even used it against the hunters and small enemies. When I used that technique yesterday to complete the ToTS 5k daily challenge I could not believe how much time that saved me. I only wish I had known to try that on the TOTS LASO challenge because I could've easily saved myself about 30 minutes of lobbing thousands of revenant blobs at the turret, hunters and wraith.

No worries on this weekly though. I know of nobody that will even attempt it. Especially with only being worth 14k. I was expecting at least 18k if not more. The hardest part of the entire stage will be the outerspace part. I hate having no control over how I can deal with an enemy. I saw a question about using the pelican turret at the end of LNoS. Is it true that you really can't see where you're shooting? Because if that is true, I will seriously reconsider attempting this weekly.

Finished the Fight!

A few hints so far:

1) As per Tyrant's guide, you can use rockets to take out those four Rangers just as you enter the corvette. But just bother to collect four-six, since that's probably the most you'll realistically need. As soon as you're ready to move into the Sabre launch base, the first pelican dropping troops will arrive. If you're lucky, two of the troopers that'll drop in will have rocket launchers. Ungently releive them of their rockets by way of frag grenade. Again, if you're lucky, you'll net 2 or three right there. Run back to the base's doorway and drop your rockets in favor of a DMR. Run inside and a rocket trooper will run towards you; trade your DMR in favor of his rocket (which will probably have one or two rounds). Just at the top of the entrance that would otherwise be shelled by the wraith, there's another rocket trooper. Carelessly misplace a frag grenade at his feet to relieve him of his one or two rocket rounds. Go back to the bases entrance and retrieve the rocket ammo you dropped there in favor of the DMR and you should be set.

2) The space battle is by far the easiest part of the mission. Just select your targets carefully and be wary of being caught in the middle of a furball. That and mashing the evade button like a motha when being caught under fire, evasive-maneuvering yourself out of a hotspot with care of not smashing into any of the map's objects. Never be afraid of using Anchor 9 and the Savannah for cover if things get a bit out of control.

3) The tips for taking out the Rangers one inside the Corvette are pretty much rock solid as per Tyrant's guide. I found out though that the last two cowards armed with their pulse rifles are complete pushovers. There will be plenty of plasma RIFLES lying around inside the comm room, especially on the two pieces you used as cover as the Rangers rush to you. As you enter the hangar, instead of going to the top of the ramps, just make a left to the nearest upward ramp without going all the way to the top. If you place yourself just right, you'll be able to pepper with complete immunity the two snipers with continuous plasma rifle fire until their shields pop. Follow through with a needle round on each noggin and let Hor-heh and the pelican in.

16,500 credits for 60 min= 1650 credits for 6 min
Kind of worth it, equivalent to about 10 games of SWAT. And I hate SWAT. Would rather play LNoS honestly.

Yeah, I was surprised how easily the AA gun and the hunters succumbed to the chain gun. I think that the chain gun kills the gun faster than the rocket warthog does; I haven't played The Package in while but I think the chain gun also kills it faster than the tungsten rounds from the tank.

Ogbuehi, when you first get into the pelican gun, there's a crate or something in your way obscuring a lot of your vision. When that crate takes enough damage, it will disappear and you'll be able to see everything.
