On PoA, do all objects reset after the Keyes cut scene?
I know that certain weapons don't reset. Not sure about the rest of it.
I was just wondering what would happen if you crate-block the door to the mass driver area, before the cut scene. It seems like it would keep the first Zealot and Grunts from retreating, which might make them easier to kill. Especially if the Zealot is stuck facing away from you, like on LNoS.
Dunno. Try it! The little wooden crates are often climbed by Grunts though. I'm not sure if there are any barrels around...
Crates and barrels do persist through the cut-scene. There are 11 barrels, 14 crates, and 3 cable spools I could get up the stairs.

So far, I haven't found a good barricade configuration. I tried 3x3 crates, but the Zealot just growled and knocked them out of the way. I tried 5 barrels perpendicular to the door, with two others on the end parallel to the door to hold them in place. The Zealot jumped over them.

I suppose some combination of crates and barrels might work, like keeping the Elite out of the smelting room (just before you get to Rally Point Bravo). Getting the barrels back upright is difficult, but not impossible. Any suggestions on configurations? You guys know the Elites' behaviors better than I do.

I was also hoping that if I put enough objects where the Zealot spawns, he might not even appear. That didn't seem to work either.

Hey, Aura! Eli! We got frontpaged on HBO. :D

Sweeeeeeet. Thanks for the post, and congrats on nearing the personal 3-hour mark.

Exodus wasn't too bad on Co-op, at least there weren't 3 FRG Chieftains on the landing pad like the 3 Ultras showing up at the TotS spire...

And with that weekly over, I have 5 finals in the next 2 weeks starting tomorrow. If I'm AFT (away from thread) don't worry, me love you guys long time and I'll be back soon.

On Exodus LASO, I'm stuck at the part where you assassinate the Brute Chieftain by the Shade Turrets. Ocassionally I do get the assassination, fly up to the balcony, but then end up either running out of ammo in DMR or getting killed by a lucky fuel rod. Help?

SC = Supreme Commander/Supreme Canadian.

De Facto leader of the military of the APE (Allied Planets Empire).

Coup = Admiral Asskicker, ZPM hive ship

The next LASO [New Alexandria] is going to be FUN. Same with the majority of Mythic Package. [Only part I'm really going to have trouble with will be the Rally Point Alpha section].

Also, RC I'm intent on beating that time of yours. I'll reclaim my lead on the package one way or another ;)

Okay that helps.
Aura, you're going to have competition. I plan on having both the Legendary and Mythic speedrun time for this mission.
I already have the Legendary Package, Tip of the Spear and Nightfall speedruns

Well considering I just got Portal 2 today and I'm still playing the GoW3 beta I doubt I'll be trying for a better time anytime soon.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Why are you here?

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but it's 500+ years into the future. Why do you still use bullets?

1) Shouldn't this go to on the Flood Forum?

2) I gather it's simply easier and cheaper to still use ballistic weapons. That or the technology to make reliable, directed energy weapons will still elude mankind even 500 years from now. The best they can come up with is the splazor and look how reliable that is.

Civilians are apparently building them now.

None the less. I'm inclined to agree that it's still probably easier and more cost efficient to go the ballistic route.

On topic: Exodus has been entertaining today.

Having a portal gun would make so many aspects of my life easier. Getting to uni would be a breeze, getting some food out of the fridge would be a snap, and going to the toilet would be...erm, well.....yeah...

With your guide, Tyrant, I was able to get Swordbase and Nightfall after a single death. On Exodus, I had a perfect first run. I've got 5 done now, and I'm trying to get through Long Night of Solace.

It's not going nearly as well.

How long did you guys spend practicing LNoS (playing w/o iron on) before attempting it on full Mythic? Right now, with Iron off, I'm still averaging about 35 deaths per attempt, and I'm not thinking that means I'm going to be ready soon.

I never do ironless runs. The way I see it is the first time I get through it without dying I've beaten it on Mythic. Besides, having the very real threat of failure that comes with death adds a whole new dimension to the mindset you have while playing, so ironless runs aren't really the best practice, for me anyway.

  • 04.20.2011 10:02 PM PDT

I just had my first non-practice run at LNOS today (had been doing runs sans blind and iron), completed with two deaths. Annoying thing is they were both stupid deaths, not on any of the hard parts I was expecting I might die on, but just my own stupid mistakes.

Beem elites got me while I was trying to head back into the door to safety, after nabbing the Engineer at the start of the hanger... I badly mistimed my use of the dropshield. 2nd death was just being annoyed/reckless because of the first.

All went well after that. Gun room guys were awake upon entry, but at least they were both plasma riflers, no concussion. Wasn't able to assasinate everyone on the bridge, but was able to get the big bad then run back to safety and take out the rest with not too much trouble.

Well, next time hopefully... doubt it though, heh. I get the feeling that something will always go wrong.

I am enjoying the door opening bit after the cutscene when Jorge joins us: I grab the concussion, shoot its crate towards the door, and go nuts at it when the door opens. I think I splattered one of the two elites in there with that. Tried to do the same on the door after I press the button on the bridge, but didnt get close enough to fire a good shot quick enough.

You have to make every shot count and you'll have plenty of ammo. I only took shots at anything only if it was a headshot. Especially if I was shooting at jackals. Use your rockets when a brute and a cluster of jackals hang out together on the landing pad. You probably won't kill them but you'll probably blow them off the edge. There is some more DMR ammo at the part where you normally would enter the room.

I'm the same way, I never really practiced the levels, I just kept trying over and over with iron on. The only exceptions were exodus where I practiced the jet pack jumps and PoA where I would save and quit if I died at the landing pad to practice that battle
