Turns out the ultra jacked the falcon and the thing wouldn't fly. I was pissed. I shot the grenade launcher chaotically hoping it would take off. I finally blew myself up out of rage. As the swirly death cam circled around my dead body, I watched Kat jump into the cockpit and the falcon flew away...

Exact same happened to me. Even worse things have happened on Exodus...
I got to the definition of THE END of the mission, I activated the missiles, screen starts to fade to black. BAM, Hammer in the back. Ending cutscene starts.. black screen... starting cutscene starts.
I sacrifice a small child.

Oh man, that's rough. But no offense, I can't imagine that's worse than dying on the last wave on Coastal Highway. When that happened to me, I sacrificed two small children and their immediate families.

Nightfall down despite Forky's persistance to not let me through the wall some sniping and persistence of my own got me through.

Made it to the second Tyrant gun before driving my Revenant into a wall on my first try of TotS too. >.<

I even killed the Zealot (botched the skip too), whose shields seemed weaker than an Ultra's... (probably just a figment of my imagination)

Wow, I've got a lot of catching up to do... curse you, college! And your insistence on consuming my free time!

I'm happy to see the forklift-through-the-gate thing works. I thought of trying it on my initial legendary runthrough, since the trick works in Halo 3 with mongeese sometimes, but it got blown up by some rogue grenades...

I tried playing a bit of LNOS on Mythic minus Blind and Iron. The walk up the beach was relatively easy. It's too bad that Bungie forces you to kill all the covenant, otherwise that battle would be completely skippable.

The Sabre part was easy. Only died once because I crashed into a phantom.

And the corvette...well, I haven't actually turned on the atmosphere in the ship yet, but so far it's not that bad. Well, it's not great but I was surprised to learn that rangers succumb to the plasma pistol quite easily. I think the plasma pistol and intelligent use of the drop shield will get me through the level albeit with a few cuts and bruises.

My bad. Sorry, honest mistake. Your guide was really good.

Fixed. :)

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, it wasn't rudeness that made me not mention your guide. The reason for the omission was that those mentioned were the only four missions I had completed. Me writing a guide on New Alexandria when I haven't completed it would be like a fat guy writing a book about dieting.

EDIT 2: Anyway...

The corvette sequence is straight forward if you break it down. Rangers die really easily, so the only make-or-break part until the atmosphere pumped through the ship part is the two focus rifle rangers. Watch out for the fuel rod grunt as well. This part is very tough.

At that point, the next make-or-break part are the two ultras immediately after you secure the hangar. If you kill the first elite, he'll probably fall back into a little hallway. Get full shields before chasing him down and melee dancing with him. If you kill those two, there's one more in the canon room whom you can easily assasinate. Then, all the elites in the bridge can be killed stealthy. If you mess up the stealth, you've pretty much lost.

Then, after killing the squad that rush the bridge (try to kill the elite before he retreats; it'll make your life a bit easier) run to the next room where there will be another jackal, grunt ultra squad. To skip this fight, soften them up with a few grenades and while running up the left ramp, plug the elite with needles from your rifle (this will make him dive and stop shooting at you) then use your drop shield on the ramp while you wait for the door to open. Easy!

The part with Jorge is where the fun begins. There are three squads in random order: a group of grunts and jackals and possibly an elite, a grunt squad with two ultras who like to hang out on the top platforms, then a buttload of ultras with a few concussion rifles, a plasma launcher and an elite with dual plasma rifles who without question is the hardest elite you will ever fight on your mythic journey.

The first squad I about which I talked is easy; simply blow up the grunts and jackals with your needle rifle and then assasinate the elite when he's distracted by Jorge.

The second squad is a bit trickier. Kill as many grunts as you can (preferably all), then grab a health pack to get full shields. Grab the sprint power up and sprint up the ramp the elites aren't using. Then, wait for them to seperate, and then melee dance with them (I've gotten good at this, so it's a viable strategy for me). Remember. With full shields, you can survive a hit from an elite. Usually, they'll land the first hit so you must have full shields before fighting them.

Then the squad of elites...hide in a corner. When they're distracted by Jorge, pick them off one by one. Try to get the concussion elites first, just stay THE HELL away from the dual plasma elite. Save him for last.

Hopefully, if you followed my advice, a dual plasma ultra distracted by Jorge should be the only thing standing between you and victory over this level...

You're probably thinking, "I can just assassinate this loser while he's distracted by Jorge!" You'd think that...but you'd be wrong. For whatever reason, this elite cannot be assassinated. This on top of his ability to fire his plasma rifles with deadly accuracy makes him the hardest elite in the game.

This is where I'm stuck. I have no solid, dependable strategy to kill him. You could try staying in a corner and shooting him with the plasma pistol, but this will make him run after you and this guy likes to get close.

This level will be conquered, don't worry guys.

Ok, Tip of the Spear guide. Easy level, but if you're having problems (understandably), I hope to get you through it.

First, here's the video, in case you missed anything.

If you have any better strategies, feel free to speak up.

When the level starts, haul ass to the left of the first tree and keep running along the cliff. Be careful not to fall! You can skip the battle this way, but then you don't get the awesome rocket 'hog! Although we won't "skip" this battle, we'll "reduce" it

To get the pelican to spawn, cap both green grunts. They're usually manning the turrets and although they don't have helmets, they have the fuel rod turret to make up for it. Use the rock wall and the tree for cover. When both grunts are dead, the pelican will appear overhead. Take out your grenade launcher and suppress the turrets. Keep shooting at them while you move up to the big rock close to the fuel rod cannon. After you reach the rock, back off while still suppressing the turrets. Grab the warthog and drive away until you're out of the line of fire of the turrets. Let Kat catch up and ride in the side seat of you wish.

Drive along until you run into the skirmishers. Get you gunner in range of them, then jump out and try to kill them with your DMR. After they're dead, keep moving up and park you warthog a little bit behind the tree. Let your gunner clear up the grunts and the ghost. The revenant will usually leave you alone, but if it decides to come over, either jack it by disabling it with a grenade from your launcher, or hop into your warthog and doge its mortars while your gunners blasts it. After the ghost is dead, the grunts will run up the hill to stand in front of the AA gun. Get your gunner in range while you kill the grunts and jackals with your DMR. After you see no one in front, leave your warthog down there, run into the left door of the AA gun, then destroy it. It takes a grenade to blow off the protective energy shield, then one more to destroy it. Use your grenade launcher if you wish. After it blows up, grab the health pack next to the dead falcon on the other side of the AA gun.

Instead of taking the cliff road, take the road going into the cave. Wait for the pelican to drop the bridge then put the petal to the metal. Keep driving past the skirmishers ahead.

When you get to the plant, park your warthog so the gunner can get a clear shot across the canyon to the covies on the bridge. Once they're supressed, man the gun yourself and quickly destroy the shade turret. You have to jump out every so often to kick the marines or Kat out of the driver seat. Drive up slowly and clear out any stragglers with the rocket launcher.

Don't pick up the hologram power up and kill the two skirmishers around the corner. Hopefully, you'll have some marines still left alive to throw grenades and the jackals. If not, you still have Kat. Go around that big pipe, then toss a grenade into the next pit to blow up the fuel tank. Move on and peak you head up the stairs. Kill all the grunts.

From here, you can see where the zealot will spawn. Kill the two jackals. If you're having trouble, there's a needle rifle crate behind you. After that, fill up on needle rifle ammo then get full health and shields near the hologram power up. When you come back to where you were shooting the jackals, jump on those two spools near the fence, jump on top of the fence then jump down. Crouch to avoid taking fall damage. Move your way up the stairs and stick one of the grunts with a plasma grenade. After it explodes, the grunts will hopefully panic. Jump over them then sprint past the zealot, into the hole in the roof. Don't stop running until you get to the two ghosts and the revenant. Kill the two grunts quickly, then jump in the ghost. Turn around! There's an angry zealot with a plasma sword coming to kill you! Run over him. Refill on health and swap out your weapon that's not the needle rifle for the plasma launcher.

Get Kat to ride with you in the revenant. Boost past the ultra and his grunts until you come to the broken bridge. Drive down and run over the three jackals. Now there will either be one wraith to the left, or two wraiths: one on the left and the right. If it's the former, go right and park you revenant near the AA gun hill so you can jump on it up the hill. Destroy the AA gun as quickly as you can; there's hunters and drones up there. Be careful if using stickies. A lot of the time, you'll stick a drone and he'll fly right to you. If it's the latter, commandeer the wraith on the right and use it to destroy the AA gun.

When the falcon comes, shoot the grunt gunner out of the wraith. Hopefully, the elite will take his place. If not, kill the grunt until the elite takes his place. When he does, shoot at the wraith using your revenant/wraith until it blows up. It won't take long.

Now the next part sucks for people in the revenant. Kill the remaining grunts and jackals with your needle rifle then focus all fire on a single hunter. To speed up this process, you brought a plasma launcher and there's another one in a crate near where you jumped up the hill. Keep shooting at them. After what will seem like a long time, the falcon will show up anyway and the hunters will hopefully turn their attention to it. Put supercombine explosions in their back until they die. When they're dead, grab the health pack near a dead falcon, then hop in the gunner seat.

Immediately open up when you see the guys on the bridge. Once you knock the elite off the bridge, focus you fire on the turrets. I don't think I can give you any advice for this part. Just shoot at anything that poses an immediate threat. These are usually turrets and concussion elites. I don't know if the wraith is dangerous; blow it up to be safe.

When you land, grab a jetpack and a health pack. Head a bit up the right and look on top of the rocks for a green skirmisher with a focus rifle. After killing him, move up the far right, going through the pipes. If there's a grunt there, melee him three times to get shields then pick up his plasma pistol. Don't worry about it if you forget to get the plasma pistol or if he has a needler, you can just get one in the spire although it's a bit riskier. Continue until you get to the top of the spire. Stop for nothing. If a skirmisher is shooting at you, shoot back at him but keep moving.

Once at the top of the spire, peak out the hallway to the right. When you see the three grunts, spam grenades at him. Be careful not to hurt the fuel rod grunt you can't see. When you've killed all three of them, slowly SLOWLY train your sight on the fuel rod grunt's head. After hearing the assuring "yay!" immediately open fire with your plasma pistol on the ultra manning the spire's controls. He'll usually open with a plasma grenade. Dodge it and run outside. Jetpack to avoid his sword. After draining his shields, he'll usually run back and take cover in the control room. Pop him in the head. After that, assassinate the other fuel rod gun and disable the spire. Congratulations and good luck with your future mythic endeavors! You'll certainly need it for the next level...

@ Michael: You're doing it wrong for the first AA gun on TotS. Just drive the 'hog up the ledge on the left of the are as soon as you've killed the Skirmishers and kill it from outside with Rockets. Saves ammo health and frustration. You can then drive straight past everything up to the refinery, go straight to the roof and juke the Covies there before skipping the Zealot with one easy jump.
Likewise kill the 2nd Tyrant gun witht he Revenant from a distance and then deal with the Wraith and Hunters with the Revenant and Plasma Launchers + Needle Rifle respectively.

After that it's just the Spire which is nice and easy.

Just did a practice run on New Alexandria. It seems pretty easy. My only issue was it made me go to the dance club before the hospital so I had no rockets and low ammo for my DMR and NR. I also didnt realize that the allies in the hospital would prevent the Rangers from attacking me right after deactivating the jammer if I had them in the lobby.

Hey guys. Checking in. Well, I decided to get to work on my own, and I pretty much have Exodus finished. I've got it all together in parts, and I have secrets that let you skip tons of the level, and many big fights.

I can finish every part just fine, but I'm having issues with the Elevator Defense part. That's the only iffy part, which mostly relies on ammo conservation, and tricking the hammer brutes by changing elevation.

I'll get back to you guys as soon as I'm finished with it. I think you'll be rather pleased.

Michael had the same thing happen to him on TotS that happened to me. I feel your frustration with the borked Falcon. I had to use the grenade launcher to kill myself, too. =/

Currently at 5/9. I put New Alexandria behind me. That is officially my least favorite mission now. So - many - BANSHEES. I don't think there was a single point where I wasn't harassed by a Banshee going from point A to point B.

Edit: I'm silently pondering why people are skipping the Zealot on TotS. He's a total push-over when he can't even shoot you; it's all about the angle you're firing at...

I find it a bit easier to do it up close and personal then doing it from a far with the turret when Kat likes to jump into the driver seat and drive me into the ghosts and the revenant. I have yet to find a way to stop this. Plus the revenant might still shoot at me. Good thing in the rest of game I don't have to deal with that anymore.

When I try to kill the second AA gun with the revenant, it takes a really long time. (plus you have to dodge wraith mortars) This is probably due to the fact I can't see the damn entrance.

Forgot to mention that I forgot to grab a plasma pistol in my video. Fixed it. In my video, I grab a plasma pistol from one of the three grunts in the spire. Simples. Just hope they're not in the way of the fuel rod grunt LOL.

EDIT: I'm wondering why people are avoiding Long Night of Solace. You're just putting it off for later. It won't get easier a month from now. You could argue that it will be since your skills will have improved, but if you really need your skills improved, play LNOS without Iron on. Not only will you get better, you'll also develop strategies for taking on that level.

Also, careful when doing Sabre tricks near the boundaries of the map. I got to the part where you have to disable the corvette, so I flew really far behind it then did a Sabre trick to turn around quickly. It ripped my falcon in half. That's ok I guess. I need a good night sleep tonight anyway.

Somehow I snuck past them and they went into the lobby, but then I forgot how to get past them at that part. All my friends online wouldnt help me by watching RC's run and tell me how he got past that part so I died trying to kill them off. :(
